I believe S55 (Europe), S56 (North America), S57(Asia) are different variations of the same phone.

Will it be OK to use S57's firmware on a S56? (I don't want to kill my S56 with an incompatible firmware)

The reason I want to do this is because some of my friends in Asia are trying to send me SMS in Chinese and that font is not supported on my S56. ( I hope I can get that font on my phone with a firmware from Asia)

However, someone told me these Asia fonts are normally store inside an extra piece of hardware on the cell phone itself. (on the asian models) Therefore, software flashes won't help me in this case because I am missing some hardware on my phone.

Can anyone here confirm if there are any hardware differences between S55, S56 and S57?

i dont think it would work. probably screw up your phone or kill it. plus, the S57 has no bluetooth and works on 900/1800/1900. your s56 is 850/1900 mhz.

Thanks for your information, this is excatly what I am afraid of.

I guess there is no way I can load Asian language fonts into my S56 then.
