S55 without Bluetooth? Is it possible?

A friend of mine recently bought a S55 from an internet dealer and the phone has no Bluetooth on it. He checked it and found no bluetooth in it? Is this possible? I know the S57 has no BT.
The phone has the S55 housing and badge on it and it is a Siemens phone yet I thought it strange when he told me no Bluetooth.
Has anyone heard or encountered this?

maybe a modded s57? or flashed with an s57 firmware?

Ask him to type *#06# , then click 'info' and he will see if it has S55, S56 or S57 firmware.

Was that the "As New" one, on which bidding just ended? Looks like the seller has a solid rating; but the "As New" claim with no bluetooth sounded odd enough I didn't bid.
