few questions about flashing an x70...

okay so ive found the guides on how to go about flashing...
my 2 questions are...
1. i have a UK Orange payg x70 that is simlocked. will flashing remove this simlock? else, how do i do it??
2. will any old USB datacable (that says its for the x70) work for flashing?
3. latest firmware version? a33? a34 (where is this)?
