i was wondering if anyone knew the solution to some problems im having with my phone, and how to fix it if possible....
so you know, i have the vx6000, and service through verizon. i have the data cable, bitpim and hexedit programs.
i have 2 different phone numbers on my phone, one on NAM1, and one on NAM2. the numbers independently work just fine, each has their own seperate voice mails, and i like that setup.
HOWEVER, each NAM is running seperate, meaning i have to physically change the NAM (menu, 9,3,2) to access each phone number. if i am in NAM1, if i get a call on the NAM2 phone number, it just goes to the NAM2 voicemail, and my phone won't ring. if i physically go change to NAM2, i dont have a missed call history, and just have my voicemail icon light up if someone left a message..i have tried using the AUTO NAM feature on the phone, but it does not work. ive called verizon and they state that "each NAM has to be seperate, and the AUTO NAM feature is not used for the purpose of having 2 phone numbers" ? ? ? well then what is it for ?
does anyone know a way to setup the phone to AUTO NAM so that i can receive calls and the phone will ring from either phone number without having to physically change the NAM ? or a better way so that i dont have to miss calls on the NAM that isnt "active" ?
the other part of this, is that with having both NAM's programmed, i cannot *228 to update the phone with software changes. it tells me on the message "unable to progam your phone, please call customer service" the customer service people dont know why it wont work, and have me go to menu 0, service code, then click ok to 5 options, the phone powers off and restarts, however it appears that im still not getting the service updates, because the roam icon still comes on when im on the NAM2 number, even if its not roaming ?
anyone know how to fix this ? ideas ?
thanks !

well i don't know how to auto nam
but i once had a friend with a similar problem
he went to name 2 and setup call forwarding to the number on name one
so all calls to nam2 automatically got forwarded to the first number
it will not fix your update problem, but it might solve the problem the voicemail and answering problem.
PS:
I think the nam2 nam1 thing orginated with/for corporperate users who where bi-costal,,
this way their phone would work no matter if they were in LA , vegas or NY..
it is a feature no longer needed by most people.
