Remembering Yahoo Log In on Blazer 3.0

Does anyone know how to get Blazer 3.0 to remember your Yahoo log in, instead of having to sign in with your username and password each time?

Thanks, in advance!

did you clear the cookies?

Posted by: abe

Nope. Browser is set to accept cookies and nothing's been done or set to clear them. I'm having similar experiences on both a Sprint Samsung i500 and a Verizon PalmOne/Handspring Treo 600.

I've been looking for something similar, (a way to save user name and passwords for sites.)

I'm afraid it doesn't exist.

Too bad. There must be a hack somewhere...

I had two distinct problems at different times, each of which caused the behavior you are now describing, and both are solvable.

1) Blazer has a bug that causes the browser to fail to retrieve cookies that have actually been created. This bug has been fixed on the latest OS upgrades. It can cause your problem because yahoo uses cookies to remember your login. There are a couple of workarounds without having to upgrade. One simple fix, which does not need to be repeated very often (for me: twice in 8 months), is to delete the cookie file. You can do this with Filez or many launchers. The cookie file is named "Web cookies". After deleting the cookie file, do a manual soft reset. After this Blazer will automatically replace the cookie file. All your cookies will be lost, but they'll be remembered in the future. There are some other ways to deal with this, and some may be easier. You can search the treocentral.com message board for everything there is to know on the subject. But if this is your problem, my above solution will work.

2) I had a problem with mail which caused yahoo to keep rejecting my password. But if I logged out entirely and logged back in, it would take it. (Mail, as you may know, requires you to reenter your password every 12 hours or so.) My problem here was the bookmark got stale. Just deleting the bookmark and adding a new one completely resolved this issue.

Pete, when you say the blazer cookie bug was fixed in the latest OS upgrades, do you mean the latest treo 600 updater?
I ask because I updated my generic GSM treo with 1.12 ROW and I still have the blazer cookie problem. I will try the workaround you stated, but I would really just want fix this bug.

Thanks, Pete. I'll give it a try.

I don't remember. Try searching treocentral for cookie gsm updater or similar terms

Hmm... The cookie lasted only for a short while, as before. It worked when I relogged in shortly after the first time but it was gone a couple hours later.

More advice:

1) Look at this thread: http://tinyurl.com/5n3va

2) Make sure you deleted the file with filez or a third party launcher, rather than the bundled palm one launcher.

3) Make sure you do a reset.

4) Try going to mail via the full yahoo mail, and not the mobile yahoo. (Get the link from your desktop machine.) The mobile yahoo may not do cookies

5) do the treo central search (as i just did), you'll get many more ideas.

If you get it working let us know.

good luck
Pete
