Help! Problems flashing GU87

This is horrible! I'm in the middle of upgrading the firmware of my GU87 for the first time, and I finished with WinMoDo, but now when I try to use Handset Power on CB2000, it gives me the message
Failed open comms. to handset
What do I do? I'm pretty sure I covered the the ports correctly, I used blue masking tape. I'm scared for my phone!
Edit: I just tried turning off my computer, then turning it back on again and trying it. I also tried with a different tape (the clear scotch tape that comes in big rolls and is very sticky). Still no luck. Please help
