Transfer pics to hard drive from pics messaging

I have an LG6000 phone. I wanted to find out how I transfer pics from pics messaging to my hard drive using bitpim. I was told I could get more pictures this way.

Thanks.

on my 4500 and 3200

any msg pic's are stored in the sms directory with file name

'mediapic000.dat'
mediapic001.dat etc

bitpim will copy / save these files to the hard drive

BUT on my phones these are not standard bitmap or jpg files

they appear to be bmp stripped of header info

the slow way

might be to set a picuture as wallpaper then save it with bitpim
rename it

and repeat using another picture..

this is just a guess, since i don't have a 6000 to try it out with

Thanks. I looked under the SMS directory on my phone and don't have those file names that you mentioned. I have my files saved as pics mssg files. Do you know of anything else I could try?

thanks.

I think bitpim will transfer/copy/save anything to the hard drive that you can see in the file system tree..

I think what you are asking is " how do i make these into usable pictures'

that is going to take some tinkering and digging

I don't have a vx6000 to tinker with

you need to get some other 6000 owners with software experince interested in nosing around the file structure with a 'hex editor' program

such as the informal group is doing with the wallpaper and msging on the 3200

read the threads by started by bwood and others to get the idea of what i'm trying to explain

it's similar to the guys trying to figure out the brew games but less complicated

i found these instructions somewhere on here, dont know if they would help, it seems too simple but let me know if they do lol

1. In BitPim, go to the Filesystem tab
2. Click + to expand the phone's EFS (Electronic File System) directory tree and
click + next to "cam"
3. Right click on a picture (that's any file with .jpg at the end of it)
4. Click "Save." Choose path and you’re done!

Hi...yeah I know how to do that..I was wondering if there is a way to transfer the pix messaging pictures to my harddrive...
Thanks

Hi...I found out that the pix message pics are stored in the mms directory of bitpim..as a hex file...Is there a way I can convert it to an image file to be able to see the picture and transfer to my harddrive...Please help ....thanks

nothing i know of is going to make the conversion for you

the process is something like this

use a pix that you upload via bitpim and set it as wallpaper

then use bitpim to save the 'wallpaper.bit' file to your hard drive

use a hex editor to determine the differences ( needed code info ) between the two files

the wallpaper.bit file is a bitmap file with the 'header data " stripped off

the set a mss pic as wallpaper

save that wallpaper.bit to hard drive

add the needed data via hex editor to make a good bitmap *bmp file/picture

now save same mms pic to hd and compare it with the *bmp and figure out the differences

someday bitpim might do this.. but it doesn't do it YET.

this is the type of thing some of us are doing with the 3200

me i'm better at figuring out what needs to be done than at figuring out the hex info/code

but i'm still in there trying
