My Sanyo VM4500/5500 is loosing outgoing RF... anyone else?

Hey All;

I'm just wondering if anyone has had a similar experiance. I've had my 5500 since Feb. and starting a bit more than a month ago I had callers sometimes complain that I was breaking up, even in spots where I had never had this happen before, even with full signal (and not just by bars, by the RF menu). Their incoming audio is perfectly fine. In the past week it's seemed to have gotten worse. It's *only* the outgoing though... the incoming is fine. My phone has software 1.008 and 101 hardware. Methinks it's time for a Sprint store visit. Has anyone else had this happen? Should this fail their test no problem or am I going to have a hard time proving it if it doesn't do this in the store? I'm thinking that the transmitter is failing or something.

Alot of pre June 5500's built had this problem. Here in Las Vegas, we were doing warranty swaps on them like it's going out of style. I'm sure your store is aware of the problem, there were so many with problems stores stopped recieving them for a little bit around april till around may. They should do a warranty swap for you, it was an extremely common problem. The new hardware on handset's with the corrected problem will read 201, in stead of 101. Software will not fix this, it has to have the updated Hardware! Sanyo in May started really improving quality tests after this big mess. Almost half of the phones went out were coming back with the dropping calls, "talking under water" sounding (on other parties end this is how you sound), and redialing/connecting issue. This was all hardware related. I hope this helps

Since you've got one with the old, defective hardware, it shouldn't be any problem getting it replaced with a new one. Enjoy.

Aight it's in to the Sprint store tomorrow then. Thanks!

The "talking underwater" thing is exactly it... it sounds like the outgoing transmitter is failing or can't gauge how much power to send back out, but the incoming is just fine. It's not cutting out so much as garbling really bad.
