(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

Anyone heard from the Brewskie maker?

Im curious if any resolution is being sought for the "start bitpim, exit, then start brewskie" issue.

EEP! One more question:

Ive installed the curitel drivers. Ive been trying to switch to the future dial dirvers.

BUT:

After doing an uninstall of the curitel and rebooting, then installing the furturedial, when I plug in the cable it find curitel and installs IT!!!

Anyoen else have this issue?

Thanks

install your drivers before plugging in the cable.

Posted by: Hillbilipixcell

Yup. Did that!

Posted by: AdamTheFckdUpKi

and it reinstalls the drivers without even asking where to get them?

Try going to the folder where they get the drivers, delete them. Then when it asks for them, give em the download/cd.

Yup. deleted the folder the CD put on the HDD.
Uninstalled through Control Panal
Uninstalled through Device Manager.

Ive tried more than a few things.

where does it get the old drivers from?

Posted by: Hillbilipixcell

LMAO if I knew I would delete them myself. LOL

Seriously bud, I dont know. Thats why I posted here.

thats wierd, but whats wrong with curtiel?

Posted by: Hillbilipixcell

You mean why dont I wanna use them?
Ive read a few posts in the forum here and it seems like those who dont use them dont have to fire up bitpim before using brewskie.

you guys with curitel ...what com do you guys use in brewsky?

Posted by: AdamTheFckdUpKi

im on 3 i belive.

Posted by: lminor7

At first I was on Com4. After about a week Brewsky stopped working for me. I uninstalled it and the drivers and reinstalled them.

For some reason the computer didn't recognize my phone until I removed the cable from the hub it was plugged into and plugged it into a different USB port. Then it recognized the phone in Com6 and has worked fine for me ever since. Go figure

I hope this helps,

I don't think you can uninstall drivers in Windows unless you physically delete each of the driver files from windows\system32\etc. I'm pretty sure windows keeps a copy of all driver files there even if you uninstall them.

However, you still might need to use the curitel drivers. I think it depends on what type of cable you have. From what I've read in these forums, if you have a straight usb-to-usb cable (like a lot of the ebay ones), you need to use the curitel drivers. If you have a usb-to-serial cable (like the radio shack one) you need the futuredial drivers.

Also, are you using a usb hub, or are you plugging directly into the back of the computer? I had issues when using a hub (but the problem could have been with my hub or its drivers).

Hope this helps.

where can I get brewsky?

Kingmurphy: search the forums

Port people: everytime you install the Curitel drivers (or any phone modem drivers - ime) it will randomly lock on an open port. All you need to do is go under Control Panel - System - Hardware Tab - Device Manager, then open the tab for "modems" and right click on whatever driver you installed and select properties. Then go to the second tab it shows (doin this from memory, forgot name) and look at what Com port it is installed on. Then, whenever you use any program for accessing your phone, use the Com port you found. I've jumped from 9 to 6 back to 9 and now I've settled on 8 for the time being. Always a good idea just to check.

i have my Radioshack cable hooked up to my 4 port hub and nothing is wrong with my connection, since the converter adds voltage to the line, the computer thinks the cable is a live device even without the phone. I'm on port 3 btw but i can release/switch freely, using curitel drivers.

search on the cd for files ending with .INF
write the names down
go to c:\windows\inf
Delete all files with those name

If you are trying to delete through the device manager it will not really work. Windows 98/2k/xp/2003 all autoload the drivers from the C:\windows\inf folder. If you were to delete via the device manager you would also have to go to the drop down menu (up top) and from "view" select show hidden items (and the phone/cable would have to plugged in for it to show up)

ok. so I found Brewsky and installed. Sometimes it gives me a problem talking to the phone. If I open up BitPim and try and access the phone, close BitPim and retry using Brewsky it works. Weird.

Anyway, one further question... how do I upload games onto the phone? I have the ultimate CD which has all the ringtones, wallpaper and which I can get to the phone but I'm having trouble getting the screensavers and games to it.

Any suggestions?

Jim
