I purchased a USB cable on Ebay for my vx 7000. It said it was for a VX 7000 but it says it is for a 6000, It has given me nothing but trouble so far. When i plug it into my phone it says "INCOMPATIBLE CHARGER!"....i tried downloading bitpim and when i go to the system file tab it says " Failed to Ato-detect the port the use. I couldn't detect any candidate ports" When i try to do the qualcom method, i set up the COM4, however it doesn't show my phone...i followoed all the directions properly. Is this all because the USB cable is for a 6000??? Someone said you can use a 6000 cable for a 7000 phone, PLEASE HELP!!!

thanks,

dan

Did you install a driver for the cable? What brand is it?

I got the Future Dial cable for the 6000 to use with my 7000. It works. I tried using the driver for the LG 6000 from the LG website. It wouldn't work at all. Kept getting errors. I then got the VX6000 driver from Future Dial and it worked. Just keep trying.

The LG VX6000 USB driver can be downloaded from LG HERE

The Future Dial driver are in a link HERE (that's not where I got mine from, but I can't remember where I did get them.)

When i tried to install the driver, it would get all the way through, then on the bottom right corner of my screen where the new hardware icon was, it would give me a message saying there was a problem in the instillation. Will the driver for the 6000 work for my 7000. And what does it mean when i plug in the cable and it says that it is an incompatible charger???

i downloaded both of those drivers from that website and after installing both of them, when i opened them up and plugged my phone in, i still got the message that it was a incompatible charger. And my USB doesn't have a brand, it looks like all the others tho, i downloaded it off ebay. ALl i can tell you is i got it from Eforcity and it came in a yellow case.

I am having the same problem, however, I was able to install the drivers from the CD that came w/ my cable. But I still get the error, and the phone is not recognized by QPST or Bitpm.

Update: I found this comment on another post on this board --

It does say "Incompatible Charger" but you just hit ok and be on your way. Then again, I might have just got lucky with my cable. So don't take it out on me if you blow your phone up! :O)

I am a Mac guy, not a PC guy ... so I had my friend come over and look at my setup (he looked in the Device Manager). He found that my computer chose COM7 as the port for the phone. So, I added that port to the software, and all is working as it should.

Did you look in your device manager for the port info?
