LG-VX 4400 trouble sending ringtones with Bitpim

i just got my data cable and im having trouble sending a ringtone/wallpaper/phonebook and what not....i always get an error message saying LG-VX4400 on COM5: The phone is not responding while manipulating the filesystem ....has anyone ever had this problem...any help would be appreciated...TIA

my problem is that when I drop the files into bitpim it makes them only one second long so they are worthless...

Did you plug in the data cable before you installed the drivers from www.futuredial.com? If so your getting that message becasue BitPim can't contact your phone because their is no proper drivers installed for the phone.

If I remember right I installed the drivers right. I will do it again to make sure. Although I can grap my phonebook and change entries in that...just getting the problems with the ringtones

I am having the same msg, but it is only giving me the msg when I try to get my phonebook from my phone to my computer! I can get everything else but that! Also I can ××× ringtone, and wallpaper! So I am ruleing out that it was not installed properly!

The only thing I can think is to maybe change the com port! If someone has another idea please let me know! I will try changing the port later on today!

your files are a: wrong format/sample rate or something

how BIG are they ?

try changing your phone data setting in bitpim

try a 4500 or 4600 and see what happens..

do a read only..

make sure you have BACKED UP the main file system on your phone to the computer

in bitpim right click on the top of the file tree and chose save whole tree/diectory

I tried 4500, and 4600! It won't work probubly because my cable is for 4400

This is the msg I am getting! It is getting 60 phone #'s than stopping!

I too was having issues similar to yours. This may be a dumb question, but did you go to the Help section of BitPim?? I realized by doing this that I had the wrong USB cord. I was using BitPim tranferring ringtones, and wallpaper and was never able to get my phonebook info up, then all of a sudden one day I couldn't do ANYthing. I checked in the help section under phones... then LGVX4400 (or your phone if different)... then cables. There it will explain the "straight cord" and the "USB to serial" (cord with a "blob" in the middle) I went and exchanged the straight cord with the USB to serial and everything's just ducky now!!

I have that cord

It is a charging battery or somthing! I have read all VX440 cords suck, and to buy a v10 or somthing cord! I don't feel like spending money on that though! I don't think I really need to download my phonebook anyway!
