Panasonic GD87 Newbie Flash: USB or Serial?

Please make your suggestion. USB seems to be much cheaper. $10 shipped from HK.
Just let me know. Which is easier, safer, and which works? Can I not use one or the hother? Some searching wasn't particularly helpful.

Although serial is more expensive, most of the faqs and tutorials out there refer to it, so to avoid messing up my phone I followed them to a key. So I would go for the serial. Try ebay for a cheap one. I saw them for as low as 12 dollars american at one point.
