I have looked through every thread...I guess I missed something. I have yet to see complete, step-by-step instructions in one post on how to use cid's new ringtone tool. I have downloaded the program, but I don't want to use it until I completely understand what to do.
My wife would kill me if I screwed up my phone.
I got rid of the verizon banner with Bitpim and am ready for ringtones!!
Thanks to all,
crooner

Do you change the file extension on an mp.3 to mid by simply renaming it?
or do I need a converter? I renamed my new ringtone (from blah.mp3 to blah.mid) that I wanted to put on my phone, but when I went to cid's ringtone tool and clicked on "Ringtone" it would not identify the newly renamed file.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I have the same problem...the ringtone tool will not show the ringtone that I have changed the extension on! Saved the file (AmPatrol.mid) to my desktop, clicked on "ringtone", went to desktop...no .mid files listed. When I explore my computer, AmPatrol.mid is still listed as an mp3 audio file. Please help...
Thanks,
crooner

how do you rename it from mp3 to mid
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
In Windows Explorer
To change mp3 to mid you go to the folder where your mp3 file is. Go to tools-->folder options and then click on the view tab. Find "hide extensions for known file types" and uncheck it. Click apply and ok. Now right click the mp3 file click rename and change mp3 to mid.
I select the root directory so all file extentions show up in the details mode of windows explorer.
You will note that you have changed the file name of blah.mp3 to blah.mid.mp3 just delete the .mp3 off.
This should do it.
