How do I shorten MP3's to 30 seconds? what programs can I use? I don't like the poly rings.

The prog I use is Audacity. Some people use Cool Edit Pro or Soundforge. Pick one they all work fine.

downloaded all those programs and can't get them to work right. Audacity says it needs lame_enc.dll. Where is that? Cool Edit Pro keeps doing the first 60 seconds. Sound forge is nowhere to be found on the internet. Please help me.

did you convert it to mono to reduce size?
converting it to mono will overlay the right and left size onto a mono track to maintain quality.
My ringtones average 25-30 seconds and 150kb in size with good quality.

I have cool edit pro, but I can't find where to edit this---("3. IMPORTANT! Filter out anything below about 120 Hz and
above 8 KHz; the tiny phone speaker can't play it anyway.
I used the FFT filter in Cool Edit Pro to brickwall everything
outside that range.") Sorry I don't use sound editing software that much.

I'm not very experienced either. Just hack around until you find it.
What version of Cool Edit are you using.
On my version Menu Path: Help > Search for Help On .....
type in fft and hit List Topics double click on first Title
On Cool Edit Pro 2.0 this is what I do.
3- IMPORTANT! Filter out anything below about 120 Hz and above 8Khz; the tiny phone speaker can't play it anyway. I used the FFT filter in Cool Edit Pro to brickwall everything outside that range.
Menu Path: Effects > Filters > FFT Filter...
on this move cursor on top of square dot and it will change to a hand. You must move the top square dot first if you are moving the vertical line inward from either end. If you are moving the veritcal line ××××××d you must move the bottom square dot first.
Move the left vertical line to ~120 Hz top and bottom the move the right vertical line to ~8000 Hz top and bottom.
_________
__| |____
120 8000
Hit the OK button.
4- IMPORTANT! Normalize it back to 100%.
Menu Path: Effects > Amplitude > Normalize...
Hope this helps
good luck

dang. Now my phone keeps running out of memory and I dont have anything on it now. I have now pictures, but the meter bar shows full and I can't add anything. Should I just reset my phone or what? And ever since I put stuff on my phone, it takes for ever for it to power on. What's the deal?
