I have tried setting it thru contacts and setting it thru my media

I have used my pix, factory installed pix and and msg objects and factory graphics

whatever i set. it doesn't make any difference

when the phone rings , it will give me ringtone and text saying xxx is calling ( call from person )

NO picture ID..

is this a firmware bug ?

anybody else have the same problem

here it what i found, and how i got it working

the biggest problem is the picture files must be under 31K ( NOT 24 bit ) images

my files were all 24 bit true color bitmaps even though my laptop is only 65k colors ( my image program irfanview saves bmp's as 24, 8 ,4,2 )

I convereted some files to 8bit 256 color

but when i used bitpims 'wallpaper ' add option , all pictures showed up as files over 42k ( 24 bit )

so i went to the file system tree/brew/shared/xxxxx.bmp

and did add new file or file overwrite to put 8 bit 256 color files in the shared folder sizes 12k to 17k

after inserting the new files

I went to download/downloadindex/brewimagemap

deleted 'brewimagemap'

unpluged phone turned it off / back on

( this forces the phone to reboot and rebuild the 'brewimagefile'

now when i set a picture for caller ID it works

word of caution if you add or delete pictures after you have set any caller ID's pix

you will have to reset those ID's,

the phone apparently works on an index system internaly

so any change in the order of the pictures in the shared folder changes the picture that comes to the screen

if girlfriend is picture 4 and you add a new picture and girlfriend becomes picture 5 , whatever is now picture 4 will showup when girlfriend calls

NOT a biggie but difenitly suprise you if you don't know about it
