Any help would be appreciated here people. I am not familiar with either CSD or GPRS so be gentle with me here. I just bought a S56 from ebay to test out the GSM system being implemented here in South Mississippi and i am wanting to get my phone set up to get on the web, can someone tell me how to set my phone up, i'm on cingular, and if CSD and or GPRS would be the best way to go.

Thanks

OK- Go into the Siemens FAQ above the posts and there are setting in there for Wap for the S56 but they detail TMobil. Below I got this info from the Cingular FAQ forum just substitut the info to the S56 instructions.

CSD woudl use your minutes and GPRS uses your data plan.

Hope it helps.

Jeff

Hi! Thanks for your reply. I manage to change the settings but one thing that is so strange is I cannot seems to change the IP address. Everytime I try to entered 66. It will prompt me to 660.
I don't know why. Does anyone know why?

what if you try entering 066 instead? just a thought.

Hello hbear,

You are awesome. It works! I entered "0" infront of every number, it works. YIPPE! Thanks a lot.

Hi Rockey,

You should follow the instructions send from jdennis. First you should make sure if the cellphone you bought is a Cingular or T-Mobile. If is original Cingular cellphone it will be very easy. Just follow his instructions but If it is a T-Mobile cellphone it will be a little complicated. Remember if your cellphone belongs to T-Mobile, when you enter the IP address you have to put "0" infront of every numbers. Good Luck!

would i have to call Cingular to have CSD added to my account in order for this to work???
Thanks

You need to call Cingular to check with them if you have internet access in your monthly plan or not. You do not need to use CDS. GPRS is the best. Check with Cingular they will be able to guide you thru if the cellphone is belongs to CIngular. Good Luck!
