Hello,

I recently got a tmobile (US) t610 phone
which an very old firmware.

I would like to flash the phone with a
european firmware. Has anyone
done this? (I would like to be able
to write sms in my own language).

Also what if I convert my t610 to t630?
Can I still flash it with a european firmware.

Any idea which are the latest firmwares
for t610 now August 04?

Latest firmware is R6C005 but its not the best, it displays low quality graphics. Try the R4C003, its apsolutely the same, only better graphics, thats the one I use.

Anyone have a FAQ or tutorial about how to do this and what hardware I need? I've heard I need a $40 cable from Radioshack or ebay. Or can my TMobile dealer do this for free?

Everyone here says the US SE won't do this on request.

My phone seems to "corrupt", for lack of a better term, after even a couple hours of use and then everything doesn't work, Bluetooth becomes flakey, calls are dropped... My wife's phone does the same thing to a lesser extent.

I'll second that last request - I'm new to this forum and am now very interested in updating my 610.
I've read in other threads about guys flashing the 610 to the 616 firmware for better reception and other benefits.... I've also heard that the 610 was recalled because of problems.

I'm on T-Mobile USA in arizona and would LOOOVE to hook up this phone with some flashing...

Just starting to get into this now... thanks! you gave me another time consuming hobby

Latest T610 Firmware is R6C005
Latest T616 Firmware is R1B027

I'm looking into getting that terminator dongle off ebay - they provide the firmware on a cd.

I got a T-Mobile T610 about two weeks ago, and for some reason mine also has very old firmware. If I buy the cable/dongle/whatever from someone (eBay/Radio Shack/wherever) and flash my phone, will this also erase the software customizations put in place by T-Mobile? I want rid of this horrible T-Zones and related customizations.

I am also interested in upgrading to T630 formware and purchasing a new screen... Will the T630 flash image come with the dongle I buy?

richy, i just got my t616 and flashed it to the newer software, huge improvements in reception, menu speed, games are smoother and increased speaker volume. I don't know what improvments are there for the 610 but to answer your question, yes you can. i loaded the original GDFS file to my phone and got rid of cingulars stuff, replaced by sony ericssons stuff, the files were included in the cd i got of of ebay.

i used the Terminator Dongle to flash my original GDFS area (to remove the branding) and the latest software (R6C005) which is the best so far. Crappy graphics? Mine look ok, i mean, camera quality is always pants anyway, but menu gfx look fine

i've had no problems with this software at all. none of the hanging it used to do
