Verizon Mobile Office Kit

Hello! I have an 8900 and have just been given a Verizon Mobile Office Kit for it. Can I use this cable to work with Brewsky? If so, should I load the drivers for the cable that come with the kit or use the Curitel/Futuredial drivers?

I'm assuming this cable will work just fine with BitPim and Brewsky but just want to ensure I use the proper drivers.

Thanks in advance to any and all info on the subject!

You should try to install the drivers that are supplied with the cable. Also, i'm thinking about getting the kit ::for the software,i already have a cable:: can you post how well it works for ya? thx.

Jeff,

I started with the MOK, but I took it back under VZ's 15 day guarantee. VZ store employee told me that I could download and upload ringtones and pics with the kit but I couldn't. But before I returned it, I tried brewsky and bitpim using the USB cable that came in the kit. Neither program was able to recognize my phone. So I went to Radio Shack and got the cable for the LG6000 (Cable #19 on their rack) and everything worked after I had uninstalled the drivers that came with the MOK and installed the drivers I found in this link:

Remember to plug your cable and phone into the USB port before installing the drivers. Then go to the device manager (control panel/systems/hardware/device manager) and check the com port that is identified with the phone. Set this port in bitpim and brewsky (you have to reset it every time you open brewsky).

I got rid of the VZ banner with bitpim, but couldn't upload ringtones with cid's ringtone tool. I have uploaded ringtones with brewsky with no problem.

Hope this helps. Just trying to give back a little of what I learned. I know if it wasn't for this forum, I would be lost. Thanks to ALL who gave their best work so that others could benefit.

Also, I read every post for days before even attempting to access my phone. If you're like me, you can't afford to screw it up!

Thanks for the replies Here's what I did:

I used the cable from the kit and only installed the driver on Disc 1 by first inserting the disc then after the driver was installed plugging-in my cable and phone.

My computer now sees the phone on both a com port and as a USB device.

After fiddling around with Brewsky I got frustrated. I then downloaded Bitpim and found that I have to first start Bitpim then start Brewsky.

I didn't have to pay for the kit or I probably would have gotten the less expensive cable but, for the benefit of others in similar situations, it's good to know that it does work
