if Im not mistaken, you can create a blank gif file, the name of the OEM wallpaper you are trying to delete.

I.E make DesertRock.gif, upload to your phone, and delete, you should no longer have a Desert Rock listed.

I think if you renamed the wallpaper that of the oem one it would still be locked, you would just wipe out the oem one and write the new on in its place. I dont think you can overwrite the oem ringers either, unless something changed on the I830. The ext for the factory ringers is not known,ie they are not wav or midi files If I'm not mistaken I dont think the oem ringers or wallpapers "take up space" anyway. Even if you overwrote them or deleted them, I dont think you would pick up any space because that space is allocated no matter what. I could be wrong but....

I have a weird problem related to that. Somehow one of my personal wallpapers got stuck as a factory wallpaper and now I can't delete it? The phone now won't accept any other wallpapers either?

How could that happen? How can I fix it is my bigger question, I've tried going as far as doing firmware flashes even but the wallpapers stay even after that...ugh...

Any ideas?

enable mms, you will get a "my pictures" folder on your phone, and you can delet any wallpaper. If you want SMS, make sure to deactivate mms after you are done. This has to be done through the codeplug.

This is a noob-esque question, but what is the point of enabling SMS? It has been stated a kazillion times, without a service center number SMS is useless to enable. And other than being able to delete whatever by enabling MMS, what is the point of enabling that? On handsets that don't support these features, I'm assuming Nextel won't let those features be of any use...

Seems like a waste of codeplug hacking IMO...

I guess you are not up to date on the lastest info. SMS works on most phones now, at least the i95, i730, and i830 that I know of. I have it working on y i830.

Well that's cool then, no until about 2 weeks ago I've been out of the iDEN loop... I know how to enable SMS in my codeplug using RSS, but pardon me for asking a question that has been answered a billion times already I'm sure....what do you plug into the phone for the SMS service center number? I have been reading threads galore and so far not found a single one specifying what one plugs in for the SMSSC to get it alive and kicking.

Without that SMS won't function, to my knowledge.

TIA!

So I'm assuming you were smoking quite the crackpipe earlier? No SMSSC#?

SMS just a rumor then eh?

*not impressed*

Wow, it's people like you that make people not want to help others. Most are helpful and appreciate the help but I guess there is always one ×××× in the crowd. I guess I will not post it here but the other's should not suffer because of you. So if you want the info hit the WWW button in the bottom of my post. All the info is there.

Naw, not at all I just love it when people can't back up their responses with evidence. Especially when you say to go to the www button and it just points to your own vBulletin messageboard that has maybe 30 threads total, none of which having anything to do with SMS.

If you can't answer honestly and back up what you say, just don't say it

If you don't mind me asking, what service center number must be entered in the i830 to get the sms to work? i tried finding it on the i860 but you can't see it in the text setup...

Well I’m not going to argue back and forth with you, I posted the info and if you don’t want to believe it that’s your choice. And if you are not bright enough to read a little, and find out you have to register before getting access to all the threads, then it just shows what type of person you are. I guess you told me Mr. 63 posts.

Yes, my homepage is my own forum. I have had it for a few months now and I have been here on Hofo and other forums for some time. People that have been around a while know me and what type of stuff I post. I also respect all the other forums and if you look at any of them you will see I have not gone around posting my forum name on them to try and get people there even though I could have. This is a great forum and I would never do that and as you see, I still come here and contribute. I have just offered to help out with stuff not provide here. It’s a good thing there are still people out in this community who are willing to help others, for free, when people like you try to insult and put them down. We could just stop and tell you to do it yourself.

I have said my peace and I am done. If it makes you fell like a bigger man to post more crap than go right ahead but I will not respond to you.

I trust you got my PM apologizing. Free information sharing is totally great, I'm sick of the people attempting to charge for it on other sites - the Internet wasn't built for people to make a buck.

I do a lot of my HoFo-ing at work, maybe I shouldn't misdirect my anger at my coworkers towards great contributors on HoFo

Seriously though, the wink was a significator for an indication of humor, I didn't mean for that comment to be directed at you, although I did get downright confused when it went to another vbulletin board, lol.

I offer up a personal thank you for contributing to these boards, for whatever that's worth!
