wht do u think is the best muscle car???

(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

i think its the 1967 Ford Mustang Shelby GT 500

Posted by: Skylinepilot

Any reason why you think that?

I say the 1969 Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 is better, only 2 produced.

They had it listed at 430hp however its well known that those numbers were by far inaccurate and not properly recorded by Chevy (same problem with the Camaro ZL1 counter part) so the power is believed to be in the 550hp or higher.

Great power and a great handling muscle car from what I have read. I wouldn't say its the prettiest but its still scores real high in my book.

Mercedes-Benz SL65

I like modern German muscle cars...those thigns are torque monsters.

For "real" muscle cars I'd pick the GTO.

70 'cuda with a 426 HEMI

i dont like the sl65 ... maybe its just i like BMW more

Impossible to say.

Way too many would make the list.

and "Muscle Car" = American, ok?

A muscle car is all about affordable street performance, and there is nothing further from that than a GTO.

Posted by: crash-o-matic

yeah i have to agree wit the GTO guys, by the way, do u kno wht GTO stands 4??? (just a lil car trivia to livin things up!)

Posted by: Skylinepilot

Gran Turismo Omolagato if I am not mistaken, but I have also heard Grand Touring Option (Maybe thats what Omolagato translates to from some language).

No offense but I am a little confused by that statement. Did you mean: "A muscle car is all about affordable street performance, and there is nothing [closer to] that than a GTO." or are you saying that the GTO is the most distant car from being a muscle car?

hes saying its the CLOSEST (i think) lol

PLZ American Muscle cars are even bigger POS then any older so called Foregin piece of crap.... btw how many muscle cars do you see as a daily driver and I am sure there are a lot more foregin pieces of crap that outlast those rust buckets... and are used as daily drivers even today :\

and I would take SL65 over any POS American car in teh world... I don't care if its faster in a 1/4 race ... because I would rather be in luxury and confort and not sitting on some POS seats where my ××× would go flat after 20 mins of driving and have to fill it up evert 100km/s cuz I'm gonna be out of gas :\

It's way too hard to pick one. Here are some favorites.

69 Camaro SS
69 Corvette ZL1
70 Chevelle SS
71 GTO
68-69 Charger R/T
Any year Cuda w/a Hemi
Plymouth RoadRunner
Plymouth Superbird....

And if you would actually call it a muscle car...the Shelby A/C Cobra

There was also a '69 ZL-1 Camaro, I believe they made 69 of them. Just thought I would mention that... it would seem appropriate with that list.

Oh, and if its based on appearances, I think the '67 Camaro looks better, I hated how Chevy made the hoods raise up by the middle part of the windshield.

I must have forgot about that one. I do still like the 69 better than the 67. I don't like the style of the 67.

Posted by: Skylinepilot

Maybe I'm biased, my grandmother has a black '67 RS sitting in her garage.

My father is big on Mustangs from the '60s, he had a '70 ('69 1/2) and will probably own another classic mustang. I think I will go the other route when I have nothing better to do and get a Camaro. I love both but a camaro seems like more of a treat to me because they aren't as common as the Mustang.

Posted by: NextelsOnly

OIC. I don't like Mustangs...not a Ford guy.

I meant a new GTO. Which is an import.

Hence imports != muscle cars.

Old GTOs were the original muscle cars.

Badly phrased, I admit.
