Oh... and I imagine you probably don't care (since it's CDMA) but the Motorola Timeport 270c supports Bluetooth with an optional module.

Same thing with the as-yet-unreleased triband Motorola GSM model T280i and the Ericsson/SEMC series T60/T61/T62 TDMA/GAIT phones (they all should support it with an add-on module).

And of course the fabled SEMC P800 should have it built-in...

Because Bluetooth is an Ericsson invention, you'll probably only see it on phones from Ericsson/Sony Ericsson for the time being. Any delays by other companies to adopt it are usually out of spite (other manufacturer's do not want to succumb to a competitor's technology) or out of cost (I imagine other phone manufacturers would have to get a Bluetooth license to incorporate it into their products).

[if i'm wrong, let me know]

That said, Bluetooth is amazing and worth every penny.

u mean P280i

bluetooth is an Ericsson invention? Are you sure about that? They might have had something to do with it, but I don't think they're fully responsible???

It's mostly true, but some other companies played a role.

Ericsson was one of if not THE major players behind it though.

A wireless data transmission technology/protocol designed EXCLUSIVELY for short range communications. It's kind of slow, but the range is good, and it's reliable.

Think handsfree sets, modems, Synchronization

A laptop and a cellphone which both have bluetooth can be linked up, and the phone can act as a modem.

You can wirelessly send data to your phone by computer, too, removing the need for Irda or datacables.

Also, bluetooth can be used for some light networking (same room) and wireless printers.

Really, there are a lot of uses for it, and it's been a long time in coming

No, no it's invented by Ericsson, 100% sure...

About Bluetooth

Bluetooth, invented in 1994 by L. M. Ericsson of Sweden and named after Harald Blaatand "Bluetooth" II, king of Denmark 940-981A.D, is a new technology standard using short-range radio links, intended to replace the wiring connecting portable and/or fixed electronic devices. Connections are established dynamically and automatically as Bluetooth devices enter and leave the radio proximity (approximately 10m). The key features of the standard are robustness, low complexity, low power, low cost and ability to simultaneously handle both data and voice transmissions

If you check a search engine and type in words like inventor/bluetooth, you will come up with enough explanation...

It IS true however that the technology didn't make the jump start Ericsson expected, so they started talks with different major companies...

But it IS a fact: Nokia is paying license fees to Ericsson for all bluetooth devices
