Sub-screen Contract and Ring volume automatically resets to 3.

Hi, I just got 8900 with Verizon, so far it's Ok, it has poor reception in our apt. unit
compared to my fiance's LG VX 6000 but I chose 8900 because it's tri-band.

Now, the problem is, every time I turn my phone off and turn it back on
the contrast on sub screen is reset to 3 even I do have it set at 5.
I have to go to menu, select the level again and then it becomes the darkness of 5.
(so, the even it says it's 5 it only looks like 3 until you go to the menu)

Also the ring volume when you receive call is no where near loud as it it when you set the ring level to 5.
