Loud And Clear Ringtones

Heres the trick to louder and clearer ringtones...i thought everyone knew this but i guess not

1.
IN Adobe Audition, use the equalizer to reduce the bass and low midrange (this eliminates noticable distortion)

2. Normalize to 400%

3. Encode at 32000 Hz and 64 kbits

You have an MP3 Ringtone that will turn heads around. My 4500 is often mistaken for a radio because rings made this way sound loud and crisp. PM or email me for mor details.

This worked kinda well, but may I also add my opinion?

When using Adobe Audition, or any audio program with these capabilities, try using these steps:

1) open up a Wav, MP3, whatever kind of audio file you want, and cut it down to the part you want to use as a ringer.

2) Convert to MONO (bitrate and stuff doesn't matter yet...) using the "Convert Sample Type" command (F11)

3) Apply compression (Effects/Amplitude/Dynamics Processing). I've found that the "Classic Softknee" preset works pretty well.

4) Normalize to 125% (Effects/Amplitude/Normalize). IMHO, 400% was distorting way too much. However, try any number in between, everyone's tastes are different!

5) Save As "whatever".MP3 and click the "Options" button at the bottom. There should be a preset for 64Kbps 32000 Hz Mono. Use that.

6) rename as a *.mid or *.qcp file and send it to your phone!

I've found that this makes for a great sounding ringtone that's clear and doesn't distort too much! If it has a lot of bass, however, I'd go with some EQ as previously noted!

Oh, and this was my first post... so Thank you to everyone on this forum for educating me on how to get my LX5550 to work with BitPim!! You all are demi-gods!!!

on my vx6000 I just leave the sample rate to 44100 and they sound loud and clear. No need for any bass reduction. I do do a volume normalize though to get rid of distortions related to to much volume gain. the VX6000 has an excellent sounding speaker on it and has a nice kick to it. but I know its not the best.
