got the headset! will post some review tonite!

Posted by: Classic

Just ordered a Nokia 6620 with Cingular service, and I am wondering if you can listen to MP3's through a bluetooth head set? First, through the regular one ear variety, like a Jabra or Nokia. Secondly, through the newer stereo types like this one:
http://symbian.pdablast.com/article...hones-from.html

I want to trick this puppy out, so all suggestions on must haves would be appreciated.... I am looking for a 1gb MMC card for music and video storage right now...

Best single ear BT headset for this phone? Best stereo BT?

THANKS !!

Posted by: angel_wing0

i think SE has one..check their website

Posted by: Classic

I am a noob, so can you tell me who SE is? Maybe a link to their site? Or am I just super tired and missing something obvious?

THANKS !!

Posted by: blips

Sony-Ericsson

Posted by: angel_wing0

SE = Sony Ericsson like blips said

Posted by: angel_wing0

now i m thinking of getting another BT Headset..any suggestions?

Posted by: GadgetVirtuoso

Another one??? How about one of the new ones from Nextlink?

Posted by: angel_wing0

hmm..which one? i was thinking bluespoon...but suggest me one pls from nextlink

Posted by: GadgetVirtuoso

I didn't like the digital bluespoon with either the 3600 or 6620. It was far too quite and the battery life wasn't that great imo. Wondering if the new AX or 5G are any better.

Posted by: angel_wing0

hmm..maybe i should give those a try

Posted by: angel_wing0

just ordered a bluesppoN!

Posted by: angel_wing0

its not that good..so i m trying a logitech soon

Posted by: angel_wing0

time for another..SE HBH-300!

Posted by: angel_wing0

? no one post here anymore

Posted by: Classic

I just got a Bluespoon Ax and I really like it. It's small, sounds good, and people say I sound excellent.

THANK !!

Posted by: angel_wing0

cool to hear!

Posted by: angel_wing0

HBH-300 coming tomorrow! yay!

Posted by: angel_wing0

post office not opened

Posted by: angel_wing0

the headset was GREAT! wow!

Posted by: cooldudeamit

I have Jabra BT250
Works fine

The problem is what will happen battery out of this headset.
You can throw this weared out batteries

But wat will happen to this headset as there is no option to replace battery.

Means when the battery of jabra bt250 wears out then wat will happen

Means i have purchased a 80$ BATTERY which wear out after 1year.

Posted by: angel_wing0

mai jabra...see whgat they can do~

Posted by: angel_wing0

my next headset will be...!? anyone help?

Whatever he just said, I'm getting the BT250 this week and I'll post a review that people can understand when it gets here.

Posted by: barthrh

Angel_wing0 has been buying and selling headsets like a madman! I have a couple of questions:

- Can you provide a summary of which were good and which weren't?

- You're in the GTA, I see. Where are you buying your headsets? Mail order from the US? Are you getting hit badly for customs/brokerage?

I just returned my Mot. HS-820. The sound quality was pretty mediocre & callers said that they were getting an echo. Plus it was really floppy on my ear.

call jabra, i think they offer to replace it for a fee, but some of us with electronics background, wont have any problem replacing it, as long as we can find a replacement... it is not only jabra who does this, SE and moto as well...

nokia HDW-2 and 3 and plantronics m2000 batteries are user replaceable... and the batteries can be bought at your local electronics shop, perhaps even at ace hardware...

Posted by: angel_wing0

they are just simple nimh batteries afaik...

Posted by: angel_wing0

anyone know if the hs11-w is good or not?

Posted by: angel_wing0

just ordered one

Posted by: sp44

Dude, provide some feedback on these instead of posting you just ordered a new one.

Posted by: angel_wing0

np..i sure will when i get it

Posted by: angel_wing0

will be getting it tomorrow..i m looking foward to the new nokia stereo BT headset!

but you wont be able to get its full benefit, i.e. the BT stereo output if you dont use it with the 8800, which is a S40 nokia...

Posted by: angel_wing0

yeah i know man...but nokia will probably come up with future s60 that can use it for music

LOL, guessing thats the benefits of a nice new & cheap N-Gage QD, you can afford to buy lots of other neat toys.

still deciding on the HBH-602 or the new Nokia one...but hmmm. guessing the HBH-602.

Only problem is I got really REALLY small ears. friends of mine used to joke "how can ya hear anyting with dem small ears man?!"

Posted by: angel_wing0

its ngage...not ngage QD!

and yeah i m switching headsets like mad ;D

Posted by: Prom1

Oh sorry dude. You got the classic model. Thats a good thing.

I'm actually thinking of getting the QD next month as a backup to my 6620; but a BT headset is needed 1st.

Does anyone have small ears; ear-cannal, lobes the whole ear shorter than 6cm tall, and less than 2.3 cm wide; that has found a comfortable BT headset??

Posted by: angel_wing0

try look at nokia.com

Angel, PLEASE, for me, take pictures of yourself talking on it! I've NEVER seen anyone talk on it eith the sideways earpiece and I would fall over and DIE if I finally got to see it! PLEASE!

Posted by: seth98es

Cant get my 6620 to work with the Motorola HS850. It came with my dads motorola phone and works with his, just not mine. I can connect to his phone via bluetooth, just not the headset :/

Posted by: Prom1

let us know if this combo works; hs850 & 6620 as I'm looking for this combo or the hbh-602 to work. thanks.

Posted by: Prom1

here is an update a good friend dropped off my akono headset. Paired and works amazingly. Incoming outgoing calls, and even ringtones are sounded in the headset! But when incoming calls the phones speaker will sound aswell no problem. Back 2 sleep really tired.

Posted by: angel_wing0

i m just waiting for thestereo BT headset

Posted by: angel_wing0

is it out yet?

Posted by: kms-lai

yes, stereo bt headset are avaliable,

it will work only with motorola 680i

or if you have the BT headset from itech that runs on a supplied bt software for series 60's phone you can listen to mp3 streaming from the phone:nokia 6630,6680,6260,3230,6600,6670,7610 or any nokia phones running on the symbian series 60 sdk 2.0.

I have the software and bt headset, but don't have a nokia phone, I am using it on the motorola mpx 220 as a normal bt headset.

Posted by: angel_wing0

ic...whats the model #?

Posted by: kms-lai

i.tech clip s

from www.itechdynamic.com

Posted by: angel_wing0

thanks alot!

Posted by: kms-lai

my mistake

the BT software is not supplied with the version that you buy from the shop, it is only supplied with the version that you get free if purchased with the nokia 6680.

Posted by: angel_wing0

thats fine...thanks thou..i might order a s2~

Posted by: angel_wing0

new question: whats the difference between the hbh-662 and hbh-660?

Posted by: angel_wing0

anyone? *echo*

Posted by: kms-lai

I don't think there is any differences, they both have the same spec and they share the same user manual, the main thing is they use the bluetooth version 1.2. my only question is, they have different model number for different country of that the hbh662 is a newer version, inprovement made over the hbh 660, if they have both in your country get the hbh 662 which has a higher number, you can't go wrong.

which phone r u using?

Posted by: angel_wing0

actually i got it..the difference is the colour only -_-*

Posted by: edeab221

Does the HBH-660 and HS850 work with the 3650?

Posted by: angel_wing0

yeah very likely, althou i cant guarantee u about the call display...since it doesnt even work correctly with SE phones

I think you mean 662 not 6682 Angel, ROFL... unless you are recieiving calls on an N-Gage then transfering them via bluetooth to a 6682 (LMAO THAT would be funny)

"yeah, i use my N-Gage as a bluetooth headset for my 6682"

lol, that would be like using a civic to drive to the parking lot where your ferarri is!

Is there a recommended stereo BT headset for a 6620? I'd like to use this as an MP3 player as well as taking calls and am tired of my headphones getting tangled up. It would also be a big plus if they stayed on while jogging. Thanks!

Posted by: angel_wing0

well there are stereo BT headsets...

Posted by: kms-lai

the 6620 cannot use bluetooth headset as mp3, unless you use the blueplayer software for use of series 60 phone.

not all bluetooth headset is compatible with the blueplayer software.

I have the itect s-clip and it sounds very good on the 6682

Posted by: robr

ok i guess i could live with a wired set of headphones. any ideas on where to buy the custom hacked adapter that allows you to take/place calls while 3.5mm headphones are plugged in? i saw one on ebay a while ago for the 6630 but i'm not sure if it's compatible with the 6620.

i just ordered the adapter on ebay for about the same price nokia charges. item #5803486332.

I just bought a Logitech Mobile Freedom and all I can say is WOW. This is what I've been looking for in a headset for a long time. It has a windguard that actually works and even with direct A/C vent on high it does not overpower the microphone. Sure the person on the phone can hear the air but they can still hear me clearly and I don't need to yell.

Another complaint is while driving I'd have to turn the radio way down or off because it would totally over power the mic and pick it up better than me. Well for once when I talk the radio gets drowned out and not me. Helpful when trying to listen for traffic reports while being on the phone for example.

Pairing seems pretty stable so far. I haven't been able to test battery life yet but it's rated for 7 hours. If I can even get at least 5 hours I'd be happy.

WTG Logitech for making a quality BT headset that doesn't cost a fortune. Retail is $59.99 on their site and they just released a new model Mobile Traveller for 79.99 that boasts 8hrs of talk time.

I've only used it with my Nokia 6620 so I can't speak how it will perform with other models.

Posted by: angel_wing0

really eh? i was trying that headset when the buy was selling his 6620 to me...the windguard doesnt work well in my case imo~

Works far better than any jabra or the Bluespoon Digital, which is grossly overprice crap IMO.

Well yes you still hear the wind but it's far less than than other headsets I've tried so far. The Jabra BT110 is almost unusable if there is any loud background noise. The BT250 is better but the Mobile Freedom is far superior so far.

hmmm...well i bought my hs-4w to compare and it was about the same...its a bit better because it has louder outgoing noise, but other than that nothing more...

Posted by: angel_wing0

going to try out the hs-11 tomorrow

Posted by: angel_wing0

^ it was not a very good headset, i dont recommend NAYONE to get it

Posted by: Icyhot1966

As good as Nokia phones are, you think they would make a decent damn BT headset. I've use the Mobile Freedom (0K) Tekken EZTALK 2000 (CRAP) Moto HS801, 810, 820, 850..Sony HBH-660 as well..The 850 is probably the best, with a tie for 2nd between the 820/810/Sony..but each one will sound very different, depending on which phone you use it with, which I found to be somewhat odd...

Posted by: angel_wing0

the hs-4w is still the best one imo _

Posted by: Icyhot1966

I have yet to try a Nokia BT headset. The design of the one you mentioned
looked like it would be uncomfortable. Maybe I will have to give Nokia a look when I purchase the next one. Plantronics has a cool one out. 3 of them actually. The Discovery 640, Voyager 510 or Discovery 320.

I'm using the HS 820 with a 6620. You forget the headset is there except when people ask if you are a borg. It works well beyond the 30 feet Motorola claims. People I talk with say the clarity is excellent. My truck is noisy but the voice tags work well almost always.

there is a V. 2 or is it V. 1.2 as they call it for the HS-4W... i just saw it a couple of days ago, but i cant test it coz it is in a sealed box, i hope this one is louder, i think this was the complaint about this HS, not loud enough, that is...

indeed, mine wasnt very loud even if i turn it to max volume~

I have a Nokia N91 and HS-12W headset hoping that it will work. However, I could only played my MP3 in mono. I downloaded the MSI music player for the heck of it and tell it to connect to the HS-12W. I was able to play the MP3 in stereo with the HS-12W for about 30 seconds. Then this message comes up.

So, I know my Nokia N91 is capable of using the HS-12W in stereo.

I hope Nokia has a firmware fix for N91 with this AD2P fiasco.

Anyone have any fix for this please let me know. Thanks.

Posted by: kms-lai

it does not work, the MSI player only works with certain headset, all itech stereo BT will work, because the MSI player was made for itech headsets.

there is another way to try, the msi player has 2 version, if one does'nt work try the other.

BTW even is it can use the msi player to stream MP3, it's still not A2DP enabled.

kms

although there is sound, it is'nt considered as A2DP.

most nokia can listen to mp3 in mono

kms

Posted by: BangNguyen

Yes it the MSI player work for 30 seconds then that message comes up. The HS-12W sounds good. What model of itech stereo BT would you recommend with my N91? What other MSI Player do you recommend. MSI server may be down, I have try all morning trying to get in. Is this the link for the other version?
http://www.msi.com.tw/program/suppo...list.php?kind=8

Posted by: kms-lai

msi player is available in 2 version, as for the headset, all itech steroe bt will work

http://www.itechdynamic.com/

Posted by: friedbrains

the sound you heard is most probably not stereo, it is dual mono... do some test...

Posted by: kms-lai

with the nokia s60 phones, when used with msi blueplayer you will get true stereo sound, other than that it's dual mono.

Posted by: friedbrains

i dont know how they do it, but A2DP is the stereo implementation of BT, without it i will doubt it as true stereo, unless fully verified...

yes, but can you really tell the difference between a full stereo and a dual mono if you have not done some testing, i have a set of MP3 stereo testing files that i can send to you if you PM me...

Posted by: kms-lai

I have sound files of my own, they are stereo.

Posted by: friedbrains

i dont know as well, but i think there is no other stereo sound profiles other than A2DP... i have doubts...

Posted by: BangNguyen

I have already tested playing my mp3's through regular headphones that came with the phone. Don't have an ipod, but have other mp3 players. And yes, the phone blow other mp3 players away. Yes, the HS-12W work when playing mp3's, but it is in mono. However, when you use the BluePlayer player from MSI it does play in stereo, but just for 30 seconds. There is really a big difference between dual-mono and stereo. I know that MSI BluePlayer is based on I-Tech technology works and it works. I just hope that there is a firmware fix for the N91 or HS-12W.

Has anybody successfully gotten A2DP to work on their N73? I read somewhere on this forum that you need to DL the version 3 software and you're set. But I haven't seen anybody specifically apply it to the N73. If it does work, this means it's not some hack but an actual official and genuine update from Nokia right? Thanks in advance, I jjust want to be totally sure before dropping a few hundred on this phone.

Thanks for the help guys!! I would've preferred to have gotten A2DP on an N73 via a more "official" means, but clearly I was being naive. As long as it's still possible (even through a 3rd party), the N73 is still my choice. I hope to get it Friday!

I am BT freak... I have used in the past Ericsson BT headsets, that is right, when it was still Ericsson and no Sony attached to its name, so as you can see, I am an early adapter to BT headsets since Ericsson was the 1st to introduce BT headsets. I have used one with a long boom Ericsson, HBH-15 if I am not mistaken, then there was the Ericsson clip type, HBH-20, those were the days... then there was plantronics BH-200, which lasted me for about a week and was promptly returned coz it was terrible in terms of weight and sound quality, and then thre was the Jabra BT-200, which was excellent inspite the look, lasted me more than a year... and then came Nokia HDW-3 which gave me a very decent life and is still useable...

but when i have heard of the BT V. 2.0 + EDR, i thought that will be my perfect BT heaven, a combo of a phone + HS with BT V. 2.0 + EDR...

Nokia BH-700 and Nokia 5500 are my 1st BT Headset and BT phone with BT 2.0 + EDR, respectively... I think I am in BT heaven, well at least untill there is BT 3.0...

1st impression

1) Connection - it connects in less than 2 sec the fastest that I have seen and it auto connects once it is in range and disconnection is even faster

2) Looks - Its up to you to judge it, but it can be worn like a pendant (yes, it comes with a necklace just like the BH-800), it can be worn without an ear-hook as well

3) Weight- its just 10gm, no need to ellaborate

4) Sound Quality - it produces a very crisp sound and quality is amazing, the best i have heard so far

5) Sound Volume - by far the loudest headset that i have used is Jabra BT-200, if we rate jabra 200 as 10, then BH-700 is 7.5, if you try to push it harder in your ear of course it gets really loud

6) Talk Time - it is rated for 6hrs talk, i will get back with you with this one after a more extensive use

Some bad points: the volume control is very easy to use, its a soft toggle instead of small push buttons which most have, however sometimes it is erratic, for example I am trying to put the Vol UP, i toggle it to the (+) but bounces to DOWN Vol (-)... perhaps i just need to adjust to its quirks...

Another thing that I noticed, but perhaps not entirely the BH-700 fault... my PC have an old BT dongle with BT V. 1.1, and I can connect my Nokia 5500 phone to it without any problem and at the same time retain the HS connection. That is right, multiple connection is available from BT V. 1.2 and up. However, in this multiple connection state, the BH-700 will disconnect itself form the phone and then reconnect itself after a couple of sec. This was going on and on, untill I disconnected the BT dongle... err, perhaps a new BT dongle with 2.0 + EDR will do??? However, this erratic behavior was not there when E61 is also paired with the 5500 while retaining the Bh-700 connection with the 5500

the photos are taken by the 5500, the BH-700 is the small black thing besides the HDW-3...

a good BT headset will be in the price range of U$ 80~50, however there are those that can cost more than U$100, but there are also those that are below U$30...

go for the mid-range price and if you are going to use it for a nokia phone, buy Nokia BT headset, coz you will share the same charger and most HS will be coming with another charger, so you gain another charger...

if the store will allow you to try it, do so... what is comfortable to others might not be to you, but get something that is light-weight, say from 15gm and below, the lighter, the better... try to get one that is also sporting BT 2.0 + EDR, that is the latest BT version available... finally, try to use it and hear the voice quality and let others comment your voice as well...

these nokia bt hs are good...

bh-800
bh-700
bh-200
bh-900 - this one is a bit big, but has dsp to reduce noise

801 already eh? thats too much for me

Posted by: tholaday

The BH800 works most of the time with the Nokia N93.

Cons:

Temptation to leave it and the phone powered on day and night, so the batteries are aging faster than they need to.

Loss of some kind of synchronization - no sound or microphone - that requires power-cycling the phone and headset.

Necklaces are not available for purchase separtately.

There's audible static outdoors if I keep the phone in my pants pocket instead of a shirt pocket, possibly due to interference on the BT wavelengths.

Pros:

Audio quality is excellent. Voice-pickup is good; when outdoors I hold my cupped hand next to my face as a makeshift sound isolator.

Comfortable.

It works nicely as Tech Jewelry.

Works indoors three meters from the phone, so I can have the phone on the windowsill for maximum GSM bars.

Posted by: angel_wing0

it works all the time with my mom's s710, so yeah i bet it will be fine with n93

Posted by: SChan

I have used the Jabra BT250, SE HBH-610a, and SE HBH-600 with my Nokia 6670. They all work fine with superb voice quality. Although, I do sometimes get a bit of static while using the Jabra BT250.

Posted by: angel_wing0

hs-3w works fine with my phones~!

Posted by: ringydingy

okay all you brilliant BT mavens, which is best for 6682? Music etc is secondary. My priority is sound quality and loudness as I am getting deaf in one ear. The buds alone will not work, I have little ears and they always pop out! So it has to have an ear loop to fit comfortably. The ones that came with the phone are ridiculous and not usable for me.

I would like this BT to work both for in the house and car. I hope I am not asking too much and not real expensive either.

TIA!!!!

p.s. I have read all the pages here and I'm still confused but I know you BT mavens will have the perfect answer!!

If you are after a BT for music play back on the nokia 6682, you only have a few choice, headset must be compatible with MSI Blueplayer, this mean you are only limited to headset from Itech , MSI international and rebadged branding, although other branded BT headset may work with MSI Blueplayer.

I don't care about the music for now. Just excellent sound quality for talking and listening on phone.

I have tried BH600, HS-s6w, motorola 500 (i think) and now BH900. I actually liked the bh600 the best but it would not stay paired after using once and then finally just died. HS-26w was DOA, motorola is too big. finally paired with skype, but sound quality sucked. would not pair with phone tho. BH900 paired with phone was uncomfortable and staticy on my end.

Any ideas or should I just give up and get a different kind of phone. I just need a phone with speakerphone that has excellent sound quality. I don't need games or music etc.

I'm so fustrated. will updating firmware help? I have v 4.65.0 and how do I do that? TIA!!

I got my wife the BH-200 and I really liked how comfortable it was on the ear. It is pretty good in sound quality although I did not test it long as I got if for my wife. I have the HBH-610a and I almost thought of getting rid of it and getting the BH-200. I was able to get the BH-200 on ebay (new) for under $20. I thought it was a reasonable price to take a chance on.

Nope, I'm not sure that it is not a fake. Heck I didn't even know that they went through the trouble at making fakes for bluetooth sets. It was sealed in what looked like OEM Nokia packaging but I would not know a fake if I saw one. Fake or not my wife likes it so it rates well on the wife acceptance meter.

Actually, I threw the packaging out. It was that clear plastic that you have to cut open. Here is the auction:

Unfortunately, their picture is gone.

not sure, but i think rap has the 501, which is the full headset thing, while the 500 is the one with a clip-on unit and an in-ear ear buds...

I might be very wrong, but I have reason to believe that this Headset did not came from any nokia design center, but rather it was purely designed by an OEM (Jabra and Plantronics, came to my mind), and the Nokia logo attached to it upon Nokia's approval!

PROS

- Cheap
- good black color
- not very small, but decent size
- connects very fast
- easy to use Power button
- battery life is good

CONS

- a bit heavy for me
- fitting is not very well
- not very loud, probably coz it wasnt fitting very well
- outgoing voice quality is not the best (what can you expect from that price?!)

There are people here who does not want to use Bluetooth Headset all the time, in fact they just want to use it when they drive, hence some of these people would want to have a BT HS that can be easily turn off (so they can leave it in their car) and also turn on, if you are one of these people, taka a look at this Nokia BH-203... and if you just want a cheap BT HS that does the job without the thrills and the frills, take this is one for a spin!

hey! i just posted the above mini-review of the Nokia BH-203 on the BT forum-> LINK HERE

i just thought of posting here as well, for anybody who is in the market of a cheap BT headset...

Posted by: angel_wing0

Nokia BH-900 is now the main BT headset, mini-review to follow as well...

sounds good man...my headset has yet to arrive

Posted by: friedbrains

i was thinking of posting a BH-900 mini-review as well, but i have decided to make it a micro, there are other reviews of it at the BT forum so,try to go there if you want more details of this baby...

- the BH-900 is a bit long, not large, a long BT headset specially when the mic boom is fully retracted as seen on the picture below..

- sound quality is by far the best in both incoming and outgoing..

- and even though it is a bit "big", it is comfortable, courtesy of those fork like ear holders... i can wear it half a day...

if there is one thing that i would like to zero in, its gotta be the "Voice Call"...

i never had any issues or problems with most of the Nokia BT headsets that i have used when it comes to "Voice Command" or particularly "Voice Call" or now in the S60 "SIND" or Speaker Independent Name Dialing...

S60 3rd Edition phones, or multimedia computers no longer requires you to record voice tags to your contacts in order to activate Voice Call... S60 3rd will automatically put a voice tag on your contacts, reason why it is called "Speaker Independent"... but i find SIND a bit more tricky compared to normal voice tags, coz now you have to say it as how the phone "voice" says it...

with the other BT headsets, i was successful with SIND, but with the BH-900 i was not (successful BTW does not mean 100% accurate, TBH, i got a lot of miss as well with SIND)... so i was wondering what is happening??? well, after a lot of trial and error, i found out that the BH-900 is more accurate with SIND when the MIC BOOM IS NOT RETRACTED... which i have reason to believe that the noise canceling property of the DSP is the culprit here, since it is supposed to be active when it is retracted...

bottom line, i am very happy with the BH-900, and it is definitely a highly recommended one... it is my BT workhorse at the moment...

next review just might be the Nokia BH-500 Stereo BT Headset, if not it could be the Jawbone...

That's for the review. If you take any input or suggestions I would love to see a jawbone vs. BH-900 review.

good review fried

Posted by: friedbrains

thanks to both of you...

the jawbone vs 900 will be very interesting indeed, but i think others have done a comparison in the BT forum... but we'll see if i got a hold of the jawbone...
