My 6230 vs. 7610 Comparison Review

(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

Posted by: SharpST77

Posted in the Nokia forum but didnt get much replies...i guess no one cares anyways but oh well...

6230 is smaller and lighter..duh...but the 7610s size and weight is acceptable with a screen that big

the screen on the 7610 is nice and big...very bright...and the 6230 screen is a lot smaller...but i dont see that as a problem..many ppl say its a negative but the screen quality is like a mini 7610 and i dont see anything wrong with it...it displays everything well...too bad the grid view is boring...but it shouldnt really bother you...

the series 40 menu is fast...faster than my t610 i had... but i dont like how u have to push down to select something instead of using the left key... the series 60 menu is slow compared to the 6230 but its acceptable... the 7610 menu is less boring compared to the 6230 with its dull theme...im using the pink theme on the 7610 and i think it looks nice..and no..IM NOT GHEY!!!

keypad...both work very well...but dont like the feedback that much on the 6230 and i dont like the joystick button on the 7610...its too small and i find myself pressing down instead of the direction... and keypad light is not that bright on the 6230 due to the design...and the 7610 keypad lights are bright as h311

camera...havent upload to the computer on both phones but im sure the quality on the 7610 wins easily... but 1 thing i notice is the quality on the 6230 screen for video capturing is very grainy and all compared to the 7610...but the camera is less choppy and it records and plays the videos ALOT SMOOTHER on the 6230...but this is on the phone so i cant comment on how it will look on pc...i find the video recorder on the 7610 a bit slow when i recording...maybe 3rd party apps can improve it??

MP3...no comment since i havent put any on either phones...i listen to the radio with the 6230 and the sound quality is very nice and accurate..no distortion or anything..and i can hear what jay chow is singing!!! and all he does is mutters through the song(im sure u know him if u listen to hk/tw music)...i hope my mp3s on the 7610 can be just as good...

reception - im in macau and its like full signal everywhere with any phone...hahaha...no comment on which is better...

battery life- use the 7610 for a 1 1/2 days...taking pics...recording stuff and all...the battery is still full...not sure on the 6230...but im sure they both have great battery life after reading reviews on other sites...i usually leave the phone charging at night so battery life on phones dont matter to me...

overall - if i had to pay 350-400 usd for any phone right now...i think i would stick with what i thought i was gonna get for 2 months..the 6230...but since i traded in my t610 and ngage and paid 314 usd for a 7610...i cannot pass up that deal... i stil think that if u arent planning on putting apps on the 7610...go with the 6230... getting the 6230 is like buying a new car with the premium package..while the 7610 is like buying the same exact car but fully loaded with all the accessories added

hopefully my review can help you decide on which phone u want...sorry that i didnt put any pics in the review cuz it would take a long time to upload and all on 56k... i would definitely put the pics up a few weeks later when im back in the US if i have time...i still need to do my summer reading

1 point to add: MP3 on 6230 DEFINITELY beats 7610, becaues 7610 is mono

great review!!! pretty thorough, didn't know Series60's menu is slower than Series40s.

and it lags too...the symbian

Posted by: JP

i'd prefer a Symbian to a SERIES 40 anyday

i have both the 6820b and the 7610b and the 7610b wins handsdown, even against th 6230b of which the only additional features are an expandable slot, 65535 screen; both of which i have on my 7610b.

the camera quality is amazing

i've gotten used to the size in like the 2nd day lol. u can say, it grew on me, big time. ideally, my 6820 was a perfect size, the T637 was a little too small imo but maybe it's cuz i got big hands, i donno.

i never even tried to load an MP3 onto the phone (i couldn't if i wanted to anyways lol) but i mean, this is not important to me at this point in time. unless a phone can produce sound like my Panasonic Disman with AIWA headphones, i won't consider using a phone for mp3s at this point in time.

however, i would be interested when there truly is a REALLY GOOD STEREO, HIGH BASS MP3 player that has LONG BATTERY LIFE & LARGE MEMORY (512kb is good) with a Camera of at least 1 megapixel.....when this device comes out in an 850MHz band...Holla

heh, we'll see when the time comes.

i'm sitting on a gold mine with my 7610b so i'm sure i'd be able to get a equal trade if i wanted to

me too...

and the 6230 feels a bit cheap and the battery cover really sux...id hate to open and close that thing

The 7610b sounds very appealing to me except for the lack of EDGE. Going back to GPRS data rates after using EDGE isn't in the cards for me.

Probably the 2 phones are really great, I just love my 6230.

Nice photos, great radio and mp3, love to watch movies on it (simpsons). The screen is quite small but it works great to see on it anyway.

Played mp3, video and radio all day today. And then the battery holds for like 12-15 hours.

Smile !

The nokia 6630 (1.3 Megapixels) has a higher camera resolution than the 7610 (1 MegaPixels). Hot swap memory card features and 3G capabilities.

yeah but the 6630 looks ugly and still doesn't have stereo sound so...rather just have the 7610. the design is unique and bound to get attention
