I must say, it's an impressive package, even w/o EDGE support, MP3 player and FM Radio. I really don't care for any of them as an option, I would just wait and go straight for a UMTS(3G) phone after that. I do have a Sony MP3 player on the side and where I live radio stations are just miserable and I never listen to them. For once, I think I made up my mind, the S65 wins over the SX1....or not?!

It has a 1.3MP camera, which means that the image file sizes will be larger than a VGA resolution camera (.3MP I belive). This could quickly fill the phone's internal memory and the included 32MB RS-MMC would make for some handy storage (Germans, pardon the pun).

The only real advantage the SX1 has over the S65 is that the SX1 runs Serier60, and there are a ton of S60 apps out there that can be installed. Add in Java support and the program library of the SX1 is pretty large. If I didn't already own the SX1, I would probably give the S65 a really hard look, even though I do like the mp3 player on my SX1. Let'e me tune out during lunch at work.

I REALLY, REALLY hope Siemens can make a S66 and convince Cingular to carry the phone. I'm sure that if Siemens seriously introduced this phone into the US market in full function (not with many functions locked like the S56), they could start being a real cell phone brand for other companies in the US mobile market to contend with.

C'mon, a S66, Siemens!

Right...the SX1 does still hold an advantage and its price now is lower than ever, maybe I should wait for another couple of months. With another high end phone to be announced soon from Siemens I wonder what to do.

As for the U.S. market, the C65/66, CX65/66 and the CF62/66 are already guaranteed. I've been looking for news to find on the M-series and S-series and nothing yet, although If the C and CX series make a good start there is no reason to follow. The S56 was already announced for best mobile phone for 2003 by Mobile Magazine.

Thanks to mobil.cz great pics

Maybe people don't really need that feature. In reality, a phone with camera with radio and camera features is great but especially an expandable memory slot with no MP3's? I think they just skipped out on some current technology that was not trending higher in europe perhaps. So I guess the other option is the S700/S710a

no i just think they're dumb ahhaahahhahah

i thought the idea was to develop a simple all in one multimedia device...

so a phone that does everything in a simple way..not a p900 smartphone.
the s700 looks to be the only one truely doing that.. but they could have accomplished it already with the k700i.

so far the moto e398 is top dog in my books...teh s65 would have been the best... if it had the mp3

cause it's launching ahead of everyone else...

just me or the design and menu look very simialr to SE..... hmmmmmmmm

its' not about needs. in marketing it's creating teh want that will guarentee success

Recanting about the K700 having "everything." No phone will ever have "everything" then people will stop buying phones. The Siemens S65 is tempting to buy since I already have an iPOD for my music. ... although what good would the memory card slot do?

the average public will not upgrade anyways... just us junkies...

i'm sure they have a marketing/product strategy.... but me as a user will continue to call them dumb

Give you loads of space to save those 200Kb picture-files on

Without a memory card, you could only have saved 5 pictures on each MB.

.... don't forget it also does video

Posted by: tiger33

can it be used as an mp3 player?

Posted by: paul34

no it doesn't have MP3 support. Theoretically, you should have a MP3 player for that stuff - having a S65 is supposed to be "high-class", remember

I want to say sorry(I can't remember the verb right now, apologise?) because the pic I linked the other day is ok but I'm thinking to buy this phone or the e398 and I saw in another czech page that dimension of s65 is more or less the same as e398.

why siemens didn't put mp3 player....

I want a sl45 with colour screen camera and bluetooth and no nokia!!!

That pic makes the S65 look even more beautiful.
