Alternate OS for Sharp Phones

(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

Hi there,

I came accross these photos of a Sharp GX20 which seemed to be running a different OS to the ones on our sharp phones.

Can anyone comment on the reliability of these pictures? They look pretty real to me ... ... Does anyone know anything more about them?

I think this are just picture of the "beta" version of the phone, before the final "OS" version was released. The charts on there are probably just some useless images to make it look good, or a WAP page...

Hmm... Could be...

If it is the Beta version of the firmware, I wonder if there are any major differences between the beta and the final releases of the firmware. It could be that the Beta was developed to test the full functionality of the phone, to which the final release was made to cripple those features ... I'ts possible. Any Sharp Beta testers out there?

I'm saying that this are the development versions of the firmware, because i once read an article about this phone, written by a person who saw it on some expo or something ... and this pictures were attached (i remember the graphs).

IIRC, it was also stated that the phone was fairly useless at the time

lol okie

While we are on the subject of OSes, the upcoming GX40 is rumored to be Symbian-based, the same kind that are in Nokia Series-60 phones! I've always liked the symbian OS for its versitality (especially demonstrated on my Nokia 6600), and its customisability (if that's a word lol) so maybe it will be the end of Red-and-white eye sores and lack of connectivity on the line of GX phones?
