Hello everyone, i am kind of new, but anyways, my question, I have an gu87 with ATT, now i just got a Cingular wireless phone, which i want to take the sim card and put it on the GU87, the problem is that, it stays on searching for network, and never lets me dial. I try calling cingular wireless and they said that this phone is not able to get on the cingular wireless network, but i seen on the network settings that it says cingular network, if any one know what i can do, thanks. i am currently in Cincinnati Oh.

The GU87 uses the 900/1800/1900 MHz frequencies. Cingular Wireless uses only 850Mhz, an unsupported frequency by the phone. If you do insist on keeping your Cingular SIM in that phone, you will not have access to the native network, and therefore be roaming on a 1900MHz provider, which is T-Mobile and AT&T Wireless. You can only roam on a provider if your provider has an agreement with the other provider (i.e. Cingular would [and I think does] have an agreement with either T-Mobile or AT&T Wireless). If you're unsure, call Cingular back and ask them if they have a roaming agreement with AT&T Wireless or T-Mobile in your area. Roaming agreements usually aren't national, and vary by area, which is why I say you should call Cingular.
As far as the phone goes, this is quite simple, the frequencies the phone operates on must be identical to that the provider supports. Since AT&T supports 1900, as does T-Mobile, the phone is ideal for those 2 networks. The other 2 frequencies supported by the GU87 are strictly European frequencies, and are of no use to you in the US.

Just set the phone to automatic switch between band and you will be fine.
