SOO Many 8390 Modding Questions - Newbie Seeks Enlightenment

(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

Alright, I'm a modder at heart and just got myself an 8390 and can't wait to get things going. Here are my questions, help is greatly appreciated.

First, I was wondering if I can bridge the LEDs without having changed them first? (will the ones that come with the phone handle it?) If not, where do you recommend I get the new LEDs?

To bridge the LEDs do I have to use solder, or can I just use a pencil?

Has anyone here inverted the 8390 LCD? I really want to do it but it would help if there were pictured instructions for the 8390/10 somewhere online?

Would film from a colour LCD screen work?

If I invert the screen, is it recommended that I brighten the screen?

How do I get a start-up sound to work on the phone?

Could I update the firmware on my own? Take it somewhere myself to have it done cheap, and fast?

Does a signal booster work? (ie the one at nokialight.com)

How do I make the phone think the headset is plugged in so that I can have it auto answer without actually having the headset plugged in? (ie spy phone)

If anyone else has done any fly things with their 8390s, lets hear about it. Lets make this forum a forum for 8390 ideas and show-offs, assitance and guidance.

Thanks,

IIIsynthtaxIII

I can't really answer your LED bridging questions, sorry not really knowledgable there.

But I can tell you the signal booster does absolutely nothing and would just be a waste of money. They plain and simple do not work, any of them.

You can see pictures of my modded 8390 here:

That's a nice tease! Why don't you tell him where or how you got it done?

Yea I would like to know where to get the inverted screen mod done as well for my 8390.

Posted by: epic408

you can buy the polarized film and invert your screen yourself.

They had inverted LCD's over at Pacific Mall in Markham. I didn't check the price though.

Kentel,

Why don't you be useful and share where you got the 8390 done?

try china town center i think it's 30bux for a 3390 but sure about a 8390 i think it would be around 40 to 50 cuz it's smaller and maybe harder.Who know cuz b4 when iwas there they said it cost more for a 8260 cuz it's smaller than a 3390 for changing lights.

just to tell you guyz...

those iinverted screen is hard to read..

but if u want to have clear letters like the V70...
i can help u, but the problem is.. i can't do it myself.. i need to ship it for a company to do it..

with white leds on the LCD can make ur NOKIA's screen looks like 100% V70 style !

contact me for more info.

Posted by: dkny_boi

why would u haf to send it to a company if u say all u need is white led's to make it v70 style?

i've personally had bright blue led's on a inverted 8260 screen an those were bright enuff to see no problem. u can get ur led's chged to white or blue for 30 bucks or less almost anywhere, and do the screen urself. don't even need to buy the film if ur careful, u can reuse the film u just took off.
