phone shorting out?

alright, i bought a USB cable for my cricket 8900 the other day. i had it plugged up to my computer and then my roommate restarted my computer without unplugging the phone. now, the phone wont even start at all. when i pulled out the usb thing, the blue lights lit up for a second and went off...and then i tried to put it on the charger..it didnt work so i pulled it off and the lights went on and off again..
i took the battery out..and put it back in..that was a no goal.
has this ever happened to anyone? what do i do? what happened? did it short out?
