Brewsky question

(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

I have installed the drivers for the USB cord on my 8900. I have checked to ensure that the device is working properly, and it is.

When I load brewsky, I have tried to connect to all the ports. When I connect, the program says "port open" in the bottom left hand corner.

It is at this point where I cannot load anything on to the phone. The dialog box comes up, but the status bar never progresses.

Any ideas?

FYI the phone is connected on COM6

Try starting Bitpim and connecting with it, then close Bitpim and connect with Brewsky. Many people have to do this to get Brewsky to work. Good luck!

I've tried that numerous times and it still wont work. I can connect with BitPim but then I go to transfer my phone book, calendar and all that stuff and the progress bar comes up but does not move. The same thing that happens with Brewsky. I was so excited to finally get my Cable and now I cant do anythingwtih it. It's driving me crazy!!!! Any other suggestions, anyone?

Thanks Jeff

BitPim won't transfer your phonebook and calendar You should only use the file system tab. Read some of the threads here about BitPim and the 8900 and be careful with BitPim so that you don't screw-up your phone. Good luck!

The Bitpim solution never worked for me. i couldn't even connect with Bitpim in the first place. You might want to enter ##7678 END. Make sure the diag is set to USB DIAG. Once I have made this change, I can connect with both Bitpim and Brewsky. I have to do this every time I power cycle the phone. So every time you upload a ringtone with Brewsky and it reboots the phone you need to change this so you can do another one. Good luck.....

Where are you supposed to enter #7678 and also there are only COM 1-12 in the diag box. I dont see anything with a USB option.. am i looking in the right spot?

I also could not connect with bitpim. It recognizes a connection exists, but that is as far as I get.

Enter ##7678 on your phone. Check your device manager on your PC for the correct port and select that port on Brewsky.

Didn't work. I am just supposed to leave ##7678 on the screen or call it? I tried both.

This is so frustrating!!!! I'm about to throw the phone out and get a new one. ... Why is this not working for me? I am trying it on a different computer now. It is in port 5 which is what my device manager says, so I chose that on brewsky as well. While my phone is plugged in i typed in ##7678 and hit the red phone (end).. nothing is happening .. the ##7678 just stays there....

I would start by re-reading the whole Brewsky thread in this forum.

Following that you can be a little more detailed about what's wrong. Some things that would help are:

1) The application you're using. I know the thread is titled "Brewsky Problem' but assuming you're still trying to get Brewsky running can lead to misunderstandings.
2) The EXACT error as it appears on the screen.
3) The settings in the application.
4) Any other information that you might think would be helpful.

Without at least the first 3 items, there's no way we will be able to provide any usable suggestions.

The Brewsky thread is like 16 pages long!
I am trying to use Brewsky so I can put rintones and wallpapers on my CDM 8900 verizon phone.

I installed USB driver and checked my setting to see what com it is located on. The cable is on COM7 but when I try to connect my phone to brewsky it says Open port for all coms except COM4. Now, I checked and COM4 is my 56k modem (which i have optimum). When I try to connect with COM4, it says "Phone: error downloading" at the bottom left corner. The progress bar comes up but never progresses. The Bar says
"Downloading: db/download_snd.txt" and the bar never moves.

I have not changed any of the setting because I have no idea what to change.

I hope this helps. I really want to install rings and wallpapers on my phone and this is driving me crazy that I cant. Please help .

Im assuming you are going into device manager to see what port is associated with the cable right?

I use brewsies with the cable with the box in the middle, futruredial drivers and com 4 , works like a charm

Thanks... I actually got it to work. I had the cable plugged into a hub, so i plugged it into the tower itself, then the ##7678 END... I was doing that with the cable plugged into moy phone... the END key is disabled when its plugged in. I unplugged it and it worked so I changed the setting and whalaaa... it works . Thank you for your help. Now all I need is somewhere to get good rings.. Any suggestions? And wallpapers that have more than just chicks and action figures.. lol
