Yikes! Are you sure "Free Java Games" are free?

We can find games on Vodafone Live! with a price tag of about £5 each. We all know that that's way too much for a piece of code that's less than 100KB. So we opt for the much cheaper and more appropriate option of downloading them off certain websites for free.

But are you sure they're free?

I've been going through JAD files, trying to get GX20 games to work on my GX22. But, what is this line doing here?

Code:
MIDlet-Install-Notify: http://live.vodafone.com:80/jsp/jdl-install-watchdog/002/1956498941

It looks like - some kind of instruction to notify Vodafone that you've downloaded a Java game. Now ... Hang on, why should Vodafone know that you've downloaded a game that is not off their website (live.vodafone.com)? I've gone through other generic games, but none seem to have this parameter in place ... it just seems to be on the ones built specifically for the GX20/30 ...

Of course, I could be completely wrong, and If I am, which I hopefully am, then please say so... but it's just a thought

Thats a interesting find, big brother is watching. I have just gone to the url and all it displays "live.vodafone.com", i therefore naviaged back down through the URL, but nothing new is displayed. Might be worth checking your bill, can you view it online?

My last bill was a stonker of a bill! £44 on data services (SMS, MMS and WAP/GPRS calls) alone, making the total £99! I was only on Anytime 100 as well... Not one game downloaded from Vodafone Live! however, all games for free excluding GPRS delivery charges ... However no WAP call seems to be £5 - they all seem to be about £1 per call ...

As soon as my contract finishes, I'm moving to O2 - they do £1 per MB, unlike Vodafone's supposed £2.47/MB
