Need help on choosing a small phone for my wife

(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

Posted by: anson

My wife has been using the G55, and she like it because of the size.

I want to get her a new phone with 850 (mainly used in Toronto). She does not use the phone a lot and does not need all kind of gadgets.
So, my No. 1 priority for her next phone is good RF (as G55's RF is not that good.

No. 2 (as important as no 1) is the size (she emphasis...), does not have to be as small as GD55/GD51 but something close.

No 3. long battery life as she always forget to charge the battery, so longer the battery life, less frequent she needs to charge it. (Amazingly, G55 has good battery life even with its size)

Built-in camera is good to have but not a must.

Lastly, within CAD200-300 budget. (Cheaper is of course better )

Thanks in advance for any help and comments.

i'd suggest a samsung s300, s200 or e600.

e600 might cost a little less than $300 because it has a camera.

I've had theSmasung S307 and it is awesome.
The size is arguably the smallest/lightest phone out in the market.
RF is awesome with my Cingualr service and I actually bought a mini antenna on e-bay and I see no RF diffeence than with the longer OEM antenna.
Battery life for me is great.
I get about 3 days with 1/2 hour of calls each day. On pure standby with no calls it will go 7 days.
No camera, but I don't care. I'll use my Canon
4Mb Elph for pix.

actually forget about s200 and e600 since they dont have 850mhz (i must've overlooked that part on your post)

like stated above, samsung s307 is probably the best choice for your wife

Thanks for the help !

But can samsung s307 be used in Asia ? Sorry, forgot to mention that it is good to have triband.

it could use the 1800 band...which is decent but 900 is probably a better bet for good reception.

How about the Geo GC688? It's small and quadband. From what I've heard, the phone also has good reception. However, I think it might be a bit pricey.

I've had a Geo GC688 before and i don't recommend it, the build quality is cheap as hell, and like previous inno phones, no ir or bluetooth connectivity.. Samsung S307 is your best bet for $200-$300Cdn.. my gf is still using her S300 i gave her last xmas.. i asked her if she wants me to sell her S300 and get her a new phone.. she say no..
