anyone hear anything about a siemens sx66 Pocket PC Phone edition with sliding thumboard coming in october? i can't find anything about it on the internet, but a cingular rep mentioned that it's coming...

Not a rumor: I've actually seen one. It's gorgeouse!!A large color TFT screen similar in size to the toshiba E750. Running windows 2003 SE on 128 MB internal memory. The speaker is quite usable for MP-3 or movies. one SDIO slot, no CF. Standard 4 button + navigation mouse lay out. Bluetooth and WI-FI.You can use the slide out keypad (normal telephone layout) or a soft keypad on screen.
Being offered by Cingullar; delayed from NOV. rollout to sometime late DEC, possible JAN.
Retail price APROX. 600.00, although that could go north or south depending on service contract and other factors......I'm trading in all the clutter on my "BATMAN" UTILITY BELT" for this baby when it comes out!!!

Cingular rep here in SC has indicated that the SX66 will be available next month. Why is there basically no mention of the unit out on the web, including the Siemens web site? Take care.

The unit is still going through testing and development and since it can be seriously delayed, they do not want to get a black eye or loose credibility over it; at the same time, they want to get it out to take advantage of the holiday season, so they're up against the wall.............
You're rep may have received an initial "roll out plan" , but it is currently behind right now. As stated previously, look for it NOV or later.
Of course, if by some chance, they are able to pull it off early, chances are a release to the stores will be VERY limited....but still a nice christmas gift to whoever can get one.....
by the way, forgot to mention: it's running a 400MHZ processor.

Thanks for the info. I am curious as to why there is no mention of the phone on the Siemens site or prettty much anywhere else ... just passing curiosity ... if you have any idea. Thanks again for the update.

As I said...still in development / testing...they can't anounce and promote something when the specs may go up or down. In fact, if they are not satisfied, this item may completely disappear only to resurface 6 months later as a totally new product, and the general public need not know it's history.........Beleive me, I've seen it happen before.
BTW: it is more a PDA with Windows phone edition, than it is an actual phone........you will be holding a PDA to your ear and the speaker is placed up top, like a cyclops eye........ it is QUAD BAND, world wide usable.
