I'm hellbent on finding out how to get free WAP. Somebody that does get it please tell me how do get it....so it actually works or your IP addy and uplink stuff.I'm with Verizon if that makes a difference. My e-mail is soccerstud7@juno.com Thanks so much if I get reply on how to get this.

I don't understand why nobody will talk about how to get free WAP. Nobody replies to other WAP questions or anything...why is that?

It could be that those of us that operate our own WAP gateways or use those of others don't give out the information to keep the bandwidth down on our own servers and to keep from swamping others with excess traffic.

It's nothing personal that no one is responding and there may be other reasons, but I listed the first two that came to mind for me. Good luck in your quest for a gateway. They do occasionally spring-up from time to time.

so jeff, how hard is it to set up your own wap gatway via a winxp home system on cable internet? Any plausable information would be nice

I don't do Windows so I can't speak for that. Also be aware that many cable providers i.e. Charter don't allow you to use your home computer as a server as it's a violation of the AUP.

I run/maintain a Linux server in a data facility and use Red Hat and using rpms got kannel and installed it. Here's a good page that will explain how to do everything:

I'm sure there are similar solutions for Windows.

thanks jeff for the info.. i didn't know that.. but i won't use the WAP constantly. its just really nice to know that you can get free WAP

I have used http://wap.crjt.net/ for a while now and it is pretty reliable and fast. Just click on the link, register, and you will get an IP address and port to a WAP proxy in your email inbox.
