Does anybody know where I can get my V600 memory upgraded from 5MB to 128MB (Orhowever much I can). Apparently you can upgrade this because someone got theres upgraded somewhere in SouthEast Asia. But not sure if anybody does it here in the US.

Wirelessly posted (motorola v300: MOT-V300/0B.09.1FR MIB/2.2 Profile/MIDP-2.0 Configuration/CLDC-1.0)

can u do it with v300?

I'd like to hear more about this too...however, where would you put it on the v600? There is no spot unless it is something like a sim card, but then you could not use your other sim.

Internal modification ??? ............

Interesting.

it would have to be an internal mod... sounds like it would be difficult to do, hopefully there's a service if this is even possible, but i'm still skeptical

You would need a bigger memory chip, and a solder gun. This is a very hard internal mod but, after 4 phones I've done mine but only to 16mb's.Chip acceptance is the key!!

I've heard that vXXX series phones use a single flash chip for both the OS and data storage. If this is the case, any memory mod would involve having to get new a flash/flex onto the phone with no bootloader to start the job. You'd presumably have to load at least the bootloader onto the new memory chip before installation, so that you'd have some way of accessing the phone for flashing.

UB2NOZ

Please give us some more details on how you did it. even pix of the phone if you can.

I'd love to be able to have a few full lenght songs on my phone.

i know cingular has a new version of the phone (v600) with 6.5 megs... but 128 megs? woohoo!

I don't think a 6.5MB version is necessarily different from stock. They may have simply left out the preinstalled Moto advertising videos and some of the ringtones/pictures. I deleted these on my v600 and ended up with 6.7MB free. Even after installing a custom wallpaper, MP3 ringtone and two Java apps, I've still got 6.3MB available.

nice...how did you delete them? aren't they locked?

Posted by: Ryujin

Use p2kman to delete unwanted files. You can get rid of all the videos and pictures (but make sure none of the pictures are set as your wallpaper when you do or you might destabilise your phone), but the ringtones are tricky. Get rid of the wrong ones and you'll lose the ability to edit your ring styles. Have a look at the forums before you do to find out which tones should be left alone.

hmm sounds good...i'll try it when my phone comes =)

thanks!

put the phone on silent before delating any thing. I made the mistake of not doing it. You have to deleate the db files and restart your phone to get back in it.
