Hi all,

SL55 Vodafone UK
P.-Date : 2004-05-06
SW-Version: 16.
SW-Date: 2003-09-17
Variant: A 133
Std-Map/SW: 1/16
D-Map/Prov.: 33/217
Lang./T9: lg1/1
Codecs: FR/EFR/HR
Audio-Par.: NfV 11

I have a few queries:

What does the above all mean?

What is the current SL55 firmware (UK on Vodafone)?

Where/how can I get it updated if there is an updated version?

Thanks guys.

I can answer the question about CODECS
>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
EFR means Enhanced Full Rate.

As opposed to HFR (Half Full Rate).
>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
But it doesn't have AMR
Adaptive Multi-Rate

(which has the ability to deliver good-sounding audio while reducing the mhz per user requirement from 25mhz per user to 8?mhz per user.) Makes GSM more competitive against CDMA EVRC (see below site).
>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
CODECS just means just how the hardware handles (compresses, processes) the signal.

Punter's definition of CODECs. see link

The real answer - version of firmware is useful to figure out, if you have latest version or not. Usually newer firmware fixes known bugs from previous releases.

sorry you prolly knew that about CODECs heh.
