this question goes out to anyone with the 5150. what do you use to carry it? custom case, universal pouch, holster, nothing? just curious. if nothing, how does the finish hold up?

I dont have a case or anything for my 5150...I just hold it in my hand. I advice to get a case for it cause the finish will start to peel if let bare.

the problem i am having is finding a case made for it that i like. sprint is really the only company that makes a case for the 5150 (and not just the 5000 with the smaller battery) that fits it. and i didn't really like how their case was made. jensen (recoton) makes a great one for the 5000 in my opinion, and that's what best buy sells for the 5000 and 5150. but the battery of the 5150 is too big and the case is too tight. i even emailed customer service at jensen and they concurred that the case for the 5000 is not for the 5150 (even though it says "5000 SERIES" on the package. haven't tried the one made by belkin yet. can't find it in the stores. the generic ones i have seen are made poorly and don't seem to fit well either. i just ordered a body glove case and one made by cellstar, both from amazon. they are brand new apparently and there is no picture yet on amazon so i had to order them to try them. the body glove case specifically says it fits the 5150. i'll see how it does in a few weeks. i'm currently using a nice universal pouch i bought at circuit city. soft glove leather.

I'm sure you will like the Body Glove case. I have had one for every phone I have had and they are the best cases I could find. I would have had one for my 5150 a long time ago if they had made one. Seems kinda stupid to me that it takes them a year to make a case for what used to be sprint's flagship phone. Ironic that they make the case now that the phone is a dated piece of technology. I emailed fellowes at one time and asked them about a case for the 5150 and they said they didn't have enough reason to manufacture a case for it. I mentioned to them at the time that this is sprint's top of the line phone and it's odd that they make a case for virtually every other phone but not the 5150. I guess you have to use a "giveaway" phone or a stupid LG, nokia, etc. to get a case from them. Now that my 5150 is scratched up and dented for lack of having a good case I don't know if I'll get one when amazon gets them in stock or not. I would like to see pics of yours when you get it seeing as how there is no pic on amazon's site.

i agree with all you said. it often seems as if both the customer relations and product divisions of so many companies have no clue about what they are doing. i have given up emailing companies about things. they usually respond with useless information or form responses. i emailed sanyo and they told me to contact sprint about cases and licensing. sprint then told me to email sanyo. hopeless. i'll email a picture of the case or provide a link when amazon puts a picture up. i actually emailed amazon about that and it sounds like they are trying to get some info on why there isn't an image up yet or when i can expect an image. it's not going to ship for a week or two so it will be awhile before i get it. not sure why. but at least the product finally seems to be out there. fortunately (or unfortunately) i just got my 5150 a few weeks ago and have been using a universal pouch so i would benefit from a case. it irritates me how there seem to be 500 accessories for every nokia phone. maybe they are just spending more time on the accessories and licensing and advertising and less on the phones themselves. the 5150 is clearly a fantastic product, as are all sanyo phones. i would rather have a great phone than a poor one with a huge selection of cases.

I checked amazon as well and it now shows the ship date at October 1st. I'm interested in seeing a picture of it and more details.

I usually put it in my front pocket - the finish is slowly wearing down. A friend has the plastic clip from the Sanyo site (that is ALWAYS sold out) and it is also wearing the finish down where it makes contact with the phone.

Yeah. I have the holster from Sanyo. The finish is starting to come off, and it also sticks out more than most phones do. I used to have a StarTAC. So I always knock the phone so the side of it is scratched. But I can't stand it in my pocket, too much other stuff in there. lol.

if you find a nice 5000 case, just get a 5000 slim battery and use the case. sure, the color is slightly different between 5000 and 5150, but if it's in a case, who cares?

I used the holster when I had a 5150...and when I had a 5000.

If any of you are interested in a flip-up holster for the 5150 I have one for sale on ebay. I just got tired of using an actual holster. It's in good shape and like new.
