(More) Fake T630 Housings on eBay

I would like to compile a list of eBay sellers who are selling fake T630 (or any other model) housings... I had a bad experience with a seller, and I don't want this to happen to anyone else.

china_store is the seller I did business with; unfortunately I won't again. Housing was fake. Here are the symptoms:

Faceplate is in 2 pieces
Battery cover has no pad to hold battery secure
Battery and antenna covers are slightly different colors

Please add to this list with the seller's name and non-OEM symtoms if you believe you have purchased a fake housing off eBay.

Trading_Shop on Ebay is another scammer. Totally fake T637 black housing received today. It had the battery pad and face is one piece but the painting is terrible and the quality is poor.

what you think, im thinking of grabbing that one does it look legit, also does the front housing include the screen, not the lcd screen itslef, but the part that gets sracthed(part you wipe off wiht you SE cloth)? ive never bought a housing so i have no clue.

It doesn;t look the part to me, Luxurious_Goods sell Genuine T630 housing (http://search.ebay.co.uk/_W0QQgotop...osortpropertyZ1)!

Also Mobile Fun ( http://www.mobilefun.co.uk/cat/Sony-Ericsson-T630.htm ) sell all spare parts for most phones on the market.

They're a bit more expensive than the eBay ones, but they are real. (Imagine that!)

thats very wierd...
i've ordered a t630 black and t616 abyss blue and red from china_store on ebay and all are oem... all have the padding and metalic like the oem's

there is conflicting information... some people say China_store is fake, some OEM ... the same with Trading_Shop (actually the same guy posts in two threads - in one he says its a fake, in the other he says its OEM

on some of the fake housings when you tighten the screws from the original phone, as in non 63x phone, the screen will list off the faceplate. this is what happened with mine, dunno if its a problem with screws or just screen, most likely screen?

That is a fake..OEM SE housing should have better quality than that

Arrgg, I just purchased one of these OEM cases from china_store . I received it today, and everything Richy said was true. There is a noticeable difference when I slide on the 2 battery covers. Well for the T630s at least...

Think I can get a refund?

i'm pretty sure china_store 's housings are all good quality fakes. bought twice (2 different housings) and always samething.
as for lovemoments, i once bought a motorola housing and that one was real original. but later i bought a v66 bezel from him and it was fake (he claimed original).

as for T60x housings, i know an ebay seller named "ovann" also sells fakes claiming as 100% original

I am currently in possession of a T630 housing

from lovemoments of eBay.

Hard to tell if it is fake... I did have to use a considerable amount of parts from my T610 to complete the package, including:

* round mirrored reflector from T610 (see the images in the above auction where you would place the reflector)

* speaker assembly

* all additional pieces, including SIM holder from the inner housing of the T610

The package did arrive with keypad, keypad circuit board, battery housing, front housing, top half of the back housing, camera/volume grommet, power grommet, web browser grommet.

Fit and finish is fair to very good, if a bit tight in spots.

I completed the transition from T610 to T630 with almost no problems...

except my keypad doesn't work now.

Not sure if that is an installation problem or a firmware problem (running T610 r7a011). I kept the T610 screen to run on the T610 circuit board. That works great... just no keypad

I was under the assumption that the keyboard would work without a firmware upgrade.

I was considering doing the swap to the new housing because of a need for a new keypad pcb but if it coesn't work without firmware change then I don't want to do it.

Could someone out there let me know if you need to switch the firmware or not to get the new keypad pcb to work?

BTW: thanks for the update on lovemoments, I couldn't decide who to buy from but even if it is a fake if it looks decent and my phone works I will be happy.

I left china_store negative feedback for the non-OEM housing (only after trying to get a refund) and then he retaliated with negative feedback for me, even though I paid immediately with PayPal and everything. I did everything right, and this a*shole screwed me because I don't like being jerked around.

eBay is becoming quite the haven for scam artists and plain old b*stards.

I'm starting to believe I may have a defective product from lovemoments, or my R7 dev firmware is also causing problems.

Not only does the 630 pcb for the keypad not work, my battery is now shorting. I can keep the thing plugged in and the phone works. But the battery will not maintain a charge.

Moving back to the old housing and retroing the R6C firmware tonight.

Lovemoments has not responded to any communications so far. I suspect if I leave negative feedback I will also receive negative feedback even though I paid immediately via PayPal. A negative feedback has much more of an impact on me (66 feedback) than lovemoments (5000+).

Sad the setup is like that at eBay. I will definitely watch my bidding from now on.

I had the keyboard problem the first time I changed one of these housings, and after taking it apart again I noticed the keyboard was not making contact with the circuit board. After correcting this problem everything worked fine.

I don't know if this is your problem, but I thought I'd mention it.

I've taken the phone about 3 times now. Tried the new pcb, no dice. Plugged back in the old one, yay! Without another T610 to test with, however, I cannot 100% state that the pcb is defective - though it would sure seem that way. One issue, the length of the connector for the T630 pcb sticks out of the ZIF socket a bit further than the T610. That may be the issue right there... but again, no way to test without a doubt. I'm guessing defective however, considering what is happening with my battery right now.

I've done it with three T610s already. No firmware updates were required. That is, as long as you are not installing a new display taken from a T630, no firmware updates are required.

It is my bet you have purchased a defective keyboard. See if you can get it replaced or your money refunded.

Sh*t man, I don't know. Your best bet would probably be www.globalmob.com or some other reputable online retailer. You'll pay more, but it is OEM - you can be sure of that.

Thanks, looks like a decent site but it only provides the covers, not the tools and other bits needed to convert a T610 -> T630.

Yea, and you have to purchase the pieces separately. That is, the housing, keypad, internal keyboard, etc. are all separate items and must be purchased as such.

You can get the Torx screwdriver at Home Depot or the like.

To follow up on my experience with lovemoments (eBay), they are sending a new keypad pcb -- or possibly an entirely new casing. Will let everyone knows how this turns out.

So, again, these guys could very well be legit. Will post photos upon completion.

But then you're looking at spending $150~ on the cover surely Richy? I could buy the actual phone for that! :P

This is why I opted for one of the ebay ones at $25, if they're definately no good I'll just get a new phone (probablly a k700i)

No it isn't! I added it up when I noticed I recieved a fake, and it is around $45 or $50. Where'd you get $150 from?

I got my housing from trading shop and if it was a fake, it was a pretty **** good fake. I bought my friend a white one from china shop and that one didn't fit so well, and the keypad was broken, the 8 button wouldn't press down. So I bought him a new one from cnn.cn and it was pretty good, but the top by the IR doesn't align well, like the old one.
