Problem with t616 -> t630 conversion.. Please help!

Hello all,

I recently (if 4 weeks is recent... *sigh*) ordered a new case/conversion kit off eBay from seller "Kpcom8".

Now first off.. I know from reading around here, and from getting my own hands on it, that this is a fake, non-OEM case.. oh well. Still looks cool.

My problem is that, well I don't know if I'm doing something wrong or if this guy, "Kpcom8" is just totally screwing me, but I cannot get the new (t630) keyboard circut board to work.

When I first got the kit, I quickly ripped apart my brand new (rogers president's letter.. hehe) t616 and went to work changing out the case.

I got it all together in about 20 minutes, and after I turned it on the keyboard was completely unresponsive.

I then opened the ×××× thing up again.. played around for almost an hour swapping the old circut board (t616) and the new one.. and as far as I could tell the board was dead. The led's did not light up, the keypad was unresponsive etc...

Clearly there isn't much to this process, a ZIF socket doesn't leave that much room for error..

So I emailed "Kpcom8" and informed him that the board was dead.. he said he would send me a new one right away... 2 weeks later I get it. (right away.. woohoo!)

I rip apart my phone again and lo' and behold, I get exactly the same result.

Am I missing something?? Am I being screwed?? and if I'm being screwed, can someone in Toronto maybe give me a hand? or maybe see if this circut board works at all?

I'm so frustrated what with taking the phone apart 10 times that I've switched back to my Panasonic GD88 (I actually like it better than the SE... don't ask why.. all the SE seems to have that I appreciate more is the Bluetooth..)..

So again, can anyone help me?

sounds like you either got a bad board, or maybe you damaged the ribbon inserting it incorrectly.

Twice?

I've never had any problems taking the t616's circuit board in and out of the ZIF socket though.....

maybe the vendor is not handling the parts correctly. Maybe he is buying defective keyboards...

Alright, so I guess we've established it's probably a (or 2 in this case) broken or defective circuit boards...

So on to question 2.. anyone in the GTA (toronto) area have one they could sell me.. or help me with or anything of that nature?
