Hi,
I'm looking for a flip phone with cam and picture caller ID...I was looking at the LG L1400 phone but then I heard from people in the LG forums that it looks kinda cheap, so then I found the NEC 525, which looks really cool with that HUGE screen. I wanted to know if there is anyone who has tried out this phone and could give me a little insight on how it is and if it too is cheap or is a really nice phone. Any suggestions would be great, thanks!

I got this phone as a replacement of the GU87. The Camera is crappy. Despite what everyone says, trying to defend it, You need to be outside between the hours of 11-6 to get a decent picture. The Caller ID is nice, and so is the outer LCD, both cool features. Forget what everyone says about the volume being quite when your talking, its not, at all. Games and Tones are good. The phones a bit bulkey but i dont mind it. If you got more questions post back, hopefully i'll check it.

i had this one other question pop in my head, what are the 2 buttons on the front of the phone used for? lol

they are used for volume of earpiece when talking to people...they are also used to mute incoming calls or to take a picture when the clamshell is shut.
i agree the camera does suck in low light (inside is low light)
earpiece is fine, not quiet...
enough with this small phone bs. big phones rock. its not bulky at all... its just a little bigger than the gd88/gu87. i like a bigger phone,,, feels good in ur hand and on ur face... the nec 525 also has aweseome ringtones and always gets good reception.
i might even trade my x70 to get another nec 525.. great phone other than camera

yeah i'm not too much on the camera quality, as long as I can take pics of my friends and put them on th picture caller ID that would be cool. Also, right now I'm using a Nokia 3300, so the NEC would be smaller for me.... kind of ironic, I went from a Nokia 8390 to a 3300, small to big, so size doesn't matter. Thanks for the hints on it, I'm oping to win this one that I see on ebay at the moment that's ending shortly, WISH ME LUCK!

it's a brick
the size reminds me of something from the mid 90's

I don't mind the size, and I'm getting a brand new 525HDM for 50$ in a few days.
Much of an improvement on this X426 before I look into the Audiovox vers of the SPV C500 or Motorola Mpx220

WOOHOO! I got my 525! The auction said that the phones were 'like new' condition. When I got he phone it looks brand new, and I have no problem hearing the ringer. The ringer is actually louder than th MP3 rings that I had on my Nokia 3300. Well, I'm very satisfied, so I have one last question...what is the resolution for wallpapers? I want to upload some to my phone.

I'm considering switching to the 525 from my SE Z600. The primary reason is the additional 850 band.
The phones seem more or less equivalent (bluetooth vs. 850 is the primary difference I see). I'm very happy with the Sony as a phone, particularly in terms of battery life and sound quality. Can anyone give me a comparison, or simply their thoughts on the 525 with respect to battery and SQ? As a basis, I charge my phone every 4-5 days.
Also, I find 2 MB of memory to be very small on the Z600. How far does the 1 MB go on the NEC?

I'm going to be picking up a 525 for $150 CDN...is that a good price? The prices seem to be all over the place on ebay so I cant use that as a comparison.
What do you guys think?

I think that's too much for the phone, I mean, I've been using mine for a while, but for some odd reason I'm starting to have feelings on moving back the NBokias because the phone doesn't perform quite that nice, and the camera...well.....the camera leaves A LOT to be desired, it only takes maximum like 200 pixel wide pictures, which really sucks.
