Hey, Does any one know if you can unlock the audiovox 8900? I'm on telus and would like to unlock my phone.. If any one has any info that would be great.. thnx ..

Posted by: siuperman

if u just do a google search for unlocking codes, there are sites that charge like $5 for the code. i kno of a site that gives em for free but they don't have any audiovox phones listed man.

if u have a data cable u can find it in the nvm files

Posted by: CanadianRob

What program would I use to find the NVM File?

Posted by: mnMark

You'll need BitPim to obtain the file, and a Hex editor to look through your nvm_0002 for a 6-digit numeric string.

Do not attempt to change it via BitPim! Just find it, and enter it through your phone's programming menu.

http://webpages.charter.net/cellcodes/bitpim.html has some generic directions...or like the rules state...check out the Marketplace forum if you aren't comfortable doing it yourself.

Or you could just type #5625* followed by end

No, we are talking unlocking the phone from the provider not "Unlocking" the phone security...

The 8900 Programming Menu is:

##20022002 <End>

Once in, you can use the Set NAM option to reprogram your numbers, SIDs, and all the good stuff.

http://www.earthuser.com/8900/ <-- This is in one of the sticky's I think...and is an excellent resource for the various screens that you can access on the 8900. YMMV, depending on the carrier you bought it from, but most should work well.

The NAM programming menu can be accessed with ##TELUS on Telus phones. ##20022002 does not work on a Telus handset. Once you get into the menu you can reset the SPC code to whatever you want. Of course, as was mentioned before, you'll need a cable to extract the code from the nvm file on the phone.

The code is unique to each handset.

The SPC on Verizon phones is always 000000. On all Telus handsets, it's a code that is unique to the handset.

##TELUS does not work on Verizon handsets. The correct code is ##20022002 for BREW enabled handsets.

If you don't know what you're doing I suggest you don't play with the NAM programming menu. You could easily make your phone inoperable in that menu.
