I spent a good four hours yesterday trying to figure this usb data cable out. No progress. This stems from the software cd that came with the usb cable (bought via eforcity corporation over ebay) they give you the curitel drivers and this program called pc-sync. Everything was and is fine with pcsync accept when i try to connect, the port "COM 4" is password protected (did i make password? no) by a 4 numeral passwrd. And although I know I should be connecting through what is in fact COM5 the drop down menu that lets you select your port is all greyed out (ie can't click it)
So i make my way to these howard forums, check out the tutorials. Download different drivers and bitpim etc. Bitpim (version 0.7.18) keeps giving me the error message "LG-VX6000 on COM5: The phone is not responding while transitioning from none to brew"
I just dont know anymore, I need direction

pc-sync is bad dont use it get brewsky and try your luck with that
make sure you drivers are properly installed (check device manager) and post what you find
then i can work from there

Alright brewsky seems like a wicked little program, btu I can't seem to connect properly. Nothing happens. No error messages nothing, I select the proper port, etc, hit connect and the status bar says "port open", then i select something like 'refresh cell list". It tells me its downlaoding the file "db/download_snd.txt" and the progress bar sits there empty for as long as I choose to watch tv or blowdry my hair.

kay I actually did get it to start working under com4 verizon I think. Only once though, now its back to doing the previously mentioned. Its gotta be this software. but I get the same results with bitpim

open up bitpim and set your phone as a lg vx 4400 select comm4 (or your comm port you know is the right one) and click ok
grab your phone and type ##7678 (port) and hit the end button
goto the diag menu and select USB DIAG close up your phone
now plug in your phone and click data on bitpim click get phone data and check somtin there then click ok
if you get this error in a new box that pops up then thats good!
An unexpected exception has occurred.
Please see the help for details on what to do.
