Browsing on the QD?

I currently have a motorola V400, but after seeing my brothers 6600, I want an S60 phone! I mainly want it for Agile Messenger and web browsing.. how's the n-gage for web browsing and Agile? I know the 6600 has a nice big screen, is the n-gage screen too small for this? Is it laggy due to the low memory? What about typing, that one handed keypad looks annoying.

What about the low color count? Is it so bad?

I'd like people's opinions on this, thanks!

To answer some of your questions:

Agile is a great program! I use it on Cingular, and i'm not sure how well it works on T-mobile (if that's your carrier), but on Cing it's the best IM program for S60 in my opinion. nice to leave it running in the background so that i can get messages all the time if i want!

Web browsing is pretty damned good on an S60 device... as good as it can be on a mobile phone. You obviously aren't going to get the full desktop experience, but it's still decent. Their are several browsers available, the best two in my opninon being Netfront and Opera...

Typing on the QD is actually really nice.... it's balanced so that if you want to use it one handed you can, but also if you use it two handed it is easy to keep the phone steadied with both hands and type with your left thumb... i've found that i can type faster on this then on many other phones... plus the keys are raised in the center and have great snap-back, making it easier to touch type.

The N-Gage screen is very bright, and honestly i don't think you'll see a huge difference between your v400 and this one... i came from a v600 to the QD, and while the v600 was certainly a higher quality screen, it's not particularly noticeable on a day to day basis.

Oh, and as for the laggy question, this is by far the fastest S60 device I have used... if your brothers 6600 is fine for you, the QD is much quicker than it.

If you are looking to get into S60 and don't care about having a camera, this is the way to go in my opinion!

You can also see my N-Gage QD Mini Review in this forum for all my opinions laid out...

haha yea that's true, i was so surprised when i saw a QD and even an N-Gage in person, them things are smaller then they look in pictures but N-Gage is still not very small but the QD is small enough to be comfortable with to carry around.

I went to Fry's today and they didnt have any on display!! where in the Torrance or Redondo Beach (los angeles, california) area can i find a working display??

Posted by: MilanoRex

okay after going to 4 different places, i finally found one! it was a dummy display, but i got to see/feel it at last. You guys were right, this thing is tiny in person. The screen is the same size as my V400's screen. One more question though, are these things sim locked? If i get a cingular branded version, would I be able to put my T-Mobile sim card in it?? Let me know! thanks

i don't know for sure... i'm currently using a t-mo branded one on cingular, but i dont' know if the person i got it from unlocked it themselves or not...

cingular isn't really locking phones a whole lot anymore... most of theirs come unlocked... if they have any in stock, just tell them that before you buy it, you want to pop your sim into it and make sure that it works correctly...
