I succesfully unlock my GU-87 phone. I have service through cingular, and the phone searches for the network for a while and then says not allowed. I know that Cingular supports 850/1800/1900, and this phone is capable of 900/1800/1900 shouldn't I be getting signal from the 1800/1900? Is there anything that I need to do? Please help me out.
Thanks!!

If Cingular in your area is 850 MHz, then they will not let you Roam on the 1900 MHz network. You will be SOL. Like here in Detroit, the cingular network is 850 MHz, and you can not roam on AT&T or Tmobile with a Cingular SIM. Just because the phone can do it, does not mean that the carrier will allow it.

Gosh, if this is the case why bother to include such a service by the carrier then? Is there anything to do where by the phone will be able to accept the service by the carrier?

Not sure what you are asking. Keep in mind, if you phone uses the Tmobile network, Cingular pays big money. Your carrier and their agreements dictate which networks your carriers SIM will roam on. If you want to use another network that your carrier does not have a roaming agreement, then you need to get another account with another carrier.
