I have searched the forum a bit for how this is done and found some decent advice here on how to do it. Thanks to those people.
Problem is though, the info is buried inside other threads. It is not easy to find. So, hopfully, If I do this right, this will be made a sticky.
I will try to be as complete as possible, but this is not a total idiot guide, you'll still have to figure things out for yourself, some things are up to you and can't be stated as 100% one way.
1.) Cool Edit Pro 1.2 - I find this much easier to edit files with, don't ask me where to get it.
I have not searched for SoundForge and have never used it. I like Cool Edit Pro 1.2.
2.) CDex 1.51 - I'm looking for something else to get down to 16bit mp3 to see how my file size and quality will be.
3.) BitPim - I use .7-test1 , It's what I grabbed and I only use it to get Brewsky started
4.) Brewsky 1.01
The links are easy to find in this forum with a small portion of searching.
1.) Get the MP3 you want a piece of
2.) Open CDex and Click on Options / Settings
On the Encode Tab set the bit rate to 32 kbps and select Mono
You don't need to change anything else unless you want to play around with it. Click on Filenames Tab and set the WAV -> MP3 to the location of your choice. This is where your MP3's and WAV files will be sent during conversion. Click OK
3.) click on Convert, Select Convert Compressed Audio File(s) to WAV File(s)
8.) Open the WAV in Cool Edit. You can use right and left clicks to get percisely the track you want. Play around with it till you get to know it. Check out all the buttons and time boxes. You can type in them. It takes a bit of learning. I have tried other trimmers and have found them to be a pain in the ××× to use. This takes all of about 1 min to get exactly what you want down to the very first and last note. Sometimes faster.
Keep the selection around 20 seconds.
Once you have your selection, Click on Edit and Cut then File and Close, Then Edit and Paste to New.
This is where it gets tricky. There is no one perfect way of doing this. But the following will do very well. Again, you will just have to play with it till it sounds good on your phone. These are rough guidelines.
Click Edit and Select entire wav, then click Trasform / Filters / FFT Filter
In the Filter Presets, Select Bass Cut and click ok, but you might not have a lot of bass to begin with, this takes some learning and can't be told how to do it. Click OK. Then go back in FFT Filter and select Telephone Bandpass
The 2nd bottom square from the left will be at 142.xx hz when you click on it, slide it to the left, keeping it at the bottom and move it to around 115 to 120 hz, you don't have to be percise. Take the top left box and slide it all the way to the left leaving it at the top to make a striaght line. The right inside box you will slide to the right to about 8000 hz or so. then the top box all the way to the right. Leave the top and bottom boxes at the very top and very bottom of the scale and click OK.
What this does is filter out a lot of the junk that the phone really can't handle well and will make it sound better, plus there is less risk of you blowing the little speaker out.
Now, we need to probably raise the volume just a little.
Click Transform / Amplitude / Amplify
Click on View all settings in dB
Start off with a 3dB boost and see how it sounds. Then go back in and bump it up one dB at a time. I generaly go about 4 or 5 dB depending on the cut. There is no way I can tell you what this will be for your cut. Trial and Error will figure it out.
Click File and Save As and save the file somewhere you can find it.
Click on Convert, then click on Convert Wave File(s) to Compressed Audio File(s)..
Select the file you want to convert or convert them all at once by selecting them all (click on one to select it then hit ctrl+a) and hit Convert.
Now you have an MP3 at 32 kbps 44hz and a pretty small file size.
Copy these MP3's to the ringtones folder of Brewsky
C:\Program Files\Brewsky 8900\RingTones
Connect your phone to your PC, follow the other pinned tutorial which tells you exactly how this is done.
Open BitPim
If the filesystem Tab is missing, then click on View / View Filesystem
On the filesystem tab click the plus sign, You might get a pop-up box with a bunch of crap in it. Click Ok and click the plus sign again, if you still don't see the tree, click it one more time, if you still don't see the tree you will need to seek other help. I ain't going into details on that here.
Once you see the tree, If you don't know your COM port then click Edit / Settings, the port will be listed there. close BitPim and open Brewsky
Select the correct Port and service (VZ, Tel, etc)
Click Connect, you may have to click on Refresh cell list
Move the Rings Tones over you want to upload and click Upload Ring Tones. I wouldn't do too many at once. I have only done 2 at most, I wouldn't risk any more. When bresky asks to reboot your phone, click NO. I always click disconnect and unplug my phone then power it off wait a few moments and power back on. It just seems safer to me. Do Not Disconnect your phone before disconnecting from Brewsky. Just play it safe.
Once you power back on, you should have your tones and they should sound pretty decent with a nice volume. If you don't like the way they sound, go back and mess with them some more, eventually you will get them sounding good.
It's 4:56am , good night and Good Luck!!

I forgot to add one thing to the end of this, sorry. It was late and I still havn't gotten any sleep.
You should always refresh the Cell List before uploading files.
Do Not Over Write the tones (any files) already on your phone.
Delete them first then upload it again if you had to edit it.
I don't know what might happen if you try over writting files on the phone.
Play it safe
or potentialy create a paperwieght.
Good Luck!!
