Area code phone number "image" ? impression?

One of our local area codes in CA recently split off (909). The new area code (951) I read in a newspaper article is desired because of negative stereotype associated with 909. I live in the 714 area code, and it is often associated with being behind the "orange curtain" ... "The OC"... Are we really judged by things like this? Have you ever given thought to or judged someone silently based on phone area code?

"THE OC" hardly portrays Chino or OC accurately, but the association is there.

In Toronto there's the old school 416 area code and the new 647 overlay... You're cooler if you have a 416 number.

new york city always had 718 numbers,except for manhatten where it has 212 and long island is 516 or something like that

There's only one area code for all of the islands of Hawaii, 808.

Ludacris had a song called Area Codes and supposed to be about having a girl from every code. Or that's what he tried to show in his video.
