Does anyone have any in put on the new Verizon Audiovox 9900 which was released by them yesterday. I hate this Motorola V710 phone and looking for something else.

I pick up a 9900 at a Verizon store to play around with it, it's nice but, I will keep my 8900, it's a better looking and feeling phone.

Like the 8900 can beat this phone. There are some pics taken by me for your enjoyment.

I have spent 2 weeks with the Motorola v710 and my wife has the AUdiovox 8900. There is no comparison on reception--she talks right beside me and I get only dropped calls and frustration. I just got a callback from my Verizon rep and could not talk to her on the Motorola so the rep called me back on my wife's phone and we had a long productive conversation. The Motorola is going back on the first bus! Any of you guys who want it can get it in the refurbished store but I wouldn't wish it on my worst enemy!

I just got the 9900 2 days ago and i'm also looking on any extra info on it. Seems like a nice phone, but then again this is my first cell phone so i guess i have no right to talk .

My initial thoughts on the 9900.

Very good overall. The screen, of course, is beatiful. Nice, fast interface. RF is solid. Build quality is decent -- I like how the flip clicks open and shut. Speakerphone is sufficient for VM, but little else. Still/video camera seem pretty good.

The Bad:

- Can't see the time when I'm on the phone. The sub-LCD is off when you're on the phone, and I haven't found how to display the time on the main LCD when the phone is in use.

- Mobile web is SLOW. My 4400 was much faster. Of course this is WAP 2.0, but I'm talking about slow basic navigation through text pages, not pulling up images or complexed pages.

- Can't go into "vibrate" mode without opening phone. Lame.

- Only 2MB of memory for GIN. Does this include photo/video, too? Either way, there's no excuse for only putting 2MB into a nowadays.

That's all I can think of for now. Mostly ×××××y things.. its not like I'm going to return it or anything.

I am selling the v710 because I bought this phone. Mobile web and GIN are a little faster downloading than the v710, and the 9900 is a very solid, fast phone.

It takes much better pics than the v710 also, especially indoors. In my opinion, it is a little better than the vx7000's camera as well. Overall, I am very pleased with this phone. Especially since the vzw banner is gone .

For fast navigation while reading pages you know you can use the "volume" keys on the side of the phone right? Instead of scrolling a little at a time like when you use the directional arrow on the main keypad, it will scroll a whole page at a time. So read a page, hit volume down on the side of the phone and it will be the next page...best way to do it IMHO.

Great tip, winterforge. I will defitely use that!

The real problem I have with mobile web on the 9900 is that it just seems a bit slower at connecting -- it seems to jump between "Sending" and "Receiving" much more than it did on my 4400. Maybe its just me.
