what is this icon for?

does anyone know what this icon is for? it displaed on my phone (cdm 8900) on the main screen only? here is a quick depiction of it.

when you flip the phone open it is left of and below the musical note icon at the top of the screen.
here is a better look at it. it sits right above the "w" of the verizon wireless banner.

auto answer. to turn off press menu, 7, 5, 1, 3, off.
