Okay, so my old Motorola decided to do a screen jumble on me last week, so I gave up and voided my new every two contract with verizon (would have rolled over in like two months) and paid a hundred dollars for a new phone, the Audiovox 8900.
So, I've had the phone two days, and only added maybe three ringtones by emailing them to my phone, other than that I've made no motifications to the phone whatsoever.
I was creating a new group called "Family" today, and when I went to add my mom into the group, the phone locked up. So I figured I just had to reboot it, so I unplugged the battery and stuck it back in.
Now the phone is stuck in an endless loop with a message right before it restarts that says:
dog.c 00985
I've looked for similar problems on this board, and I've come to the conclusion that my phone is pretty much a brick now.
Is there anything I can do other than take it back to the store?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

My 8900 did the same thing. The techs. know of the problem of some of the 8900 locking up. All I was doing was adding e-mail address to my contacts. Take it back to the store and they will give you a new phone, my replacement hads been fine.

Good to know. This is the worst possible time that this could happen. I have to take the LSAT tomorrow, and any extra worries are nothing but distractions.
Now I can go into my test tomorrow without worrying about the phone thing, so thanks.
Edit: How long have you had the replacement? and did you try the same thing with the new phone to see if it would crap out again?
One more question. Is this a common occurance? Should I think about going with a different phone or not?

Well, I would not get a different phone if you like the 8900 in the first place. I had pictures, phone #s store on it. Have change the verizon ip address, remove the verizon banner you know just getting the phone set up the way I like it and that was done on the second day that I had it. The third day as I stated above I was adding e-mail address to my contact list and the phone would freeze, would not power off and had to do a hard reboot, try to add again samething happen. The next morning, samething. Took it back to the store and explain, "thinking I may have the phone overloaded-not enough memory" to the tech. what the problem was. He gave me a new phone and said that the phone was made to do everything that I was putting it through and said it was a software problem.
The replacement 8900 hads perform great

why not spend $50 more and get the 9900? it's full retail is $149.99 until Oct. 11. So far its been good, build quality isn't the best but the screen is beautiful, the pictures are better than the 8900, it's speaker phone better than the 8900, it's menu is better than the 8900, overall it's a way better buy. I've had the 8900, and it was probably with me the shortest time due to the fact I had to exchange that thing 3 times in 2 days.
